some day in the park sunday 3 great games but questions would have to be asked about the size of the crowd westmeathny (USA) - Posts: 8 - 29/09/2020 15:10:32 2294749 Link 0 |
The New York board should be ashamed of themselves for letting all those people in, They should step down then,They should hang their heads in shame Tourist (USA) - Posts: 22 - 30/09/2020 23:59:56 2294958 Link 0 |
If you think the size of the crowd was bad, you should have seen the referees performance. I'll never watch a game there again!

Should the chairman and officers from the management committee who were in charge of making these decisions, to allowed the large volume in crowd's to attend these games, be forced to hand in their resignations? Shouldn't public safety and supporters safety be their number one concern? Howdidigethere (USA) - Posts: 5 - 03/10/2020 15:22:36 2295437 Link 0 |

Congrats to Barnabas on winning the NY senior championship. In a depleted year with a lot of the big guns falling by the wayside, still nice to see the American born boys come to the fore. Social distancing and masks went right out the window which was a huge concern. For Frank Brady, not that long since you were deeply entrenched with Leitrim, until they went out of business, guess everyone likes to latch on to a winner. How could you not name the Player of the game? Tiarnan Mathers by a country mile,a credit to Shannon Gaels and his family.Sligo had a ten pt lead and yes some skeptical reffing. thelowball (USA) - Posts: 288 - 03/10/2020 23:13:04 2295508 Link 0 |
Around 750 people were there I'm told so giving that the place can accommodate 5 times that it wasn't so bad. It's up to spectators to wear masks and comply with signage. Games were a credit to ny GAA this year and have ensured that Gaelic games will be alive and well heading into next year. Both senior finals were brilliant with St Barnabas stealing the show with there team of Americans. They proved that these games can be won without sanctions and transfers from across the pond. Next step for these players is to compete for places on NY senior team for 2021 championship. Matters. Hogan's. Coles. Rafferry's. Brosnan Boyle Curran. Kennedy and Reilly are as good as you can get and deserve tryouts. Ulster and Hoboken also had great wins in junior and senior hurling. 750 people is definitely a huge understatement as the crowds were in excess of 2,500 and the gate receipts for ticket sales should easily determine the numbers in attendance. Credit should be reserved for the clubs who put in all their time and effort to make the games competitive and keep the Gaelic association alive heading into next year. Congratulations to St Barnabas on their historical Championship win and no doubt there are a lot of top quality footballers been developed by all of the native clubs in New York.
