Replying To tirawleybaron:  "Dont get lost in the excitement of one good final.

Munster has had 1 good game out of 5 (20%)
Connacht has had 1 good game out of 6 (16%)
Leinster had had 3 good games out of 9 so far. Good chance of 4 from 10 (40%)
Ulster has had 3 good games out of 7 so far. Good chance of 4 of 8 (50%)

If you took out the weakest 16 teams out of the provincials (hurling omits the weakest 21 counties) and youd have a high quality championship on a footing with anything the hurling lads can put on."
I thought Mayo v Leitrim and more so Mayo v Sligo were good games. The resultS might have gone as expected but they were decent games. Ross v Galway was the only real disappointment in Connacht IMO.

Thanks for your answers to my queries. A draw would certainly be a fairer way to decide who plays who in the playoffs for a quarter final spot.
There should be some brilliant games coming up.
Just to reply to whoever said a team would have to play 9 games to win this year's all Ireland and that such a scenario never had happened before.
It did happen before. In 2005 Tyrone played 10 games to win Sam 2005.
They had at least 3 replays.. they drew with Cavan in the ist round in ulster, then drew with Armagh in the famous ulster final in Croke Park, then the famous draw with Dublin and the Mugsy goal.
With extra time now there won't be a repeat of that.
It was some campaign.

When are the matches due to be confirmed for May 17/18th? (i.e times & venues) As a travelling Dub we've booked a hotel in Galway for Saturday 17th, given that the hurlers play Kilkenny on Sunday 18th

I think the Round 1 games are usually split over two Saturdays. Connacht and Munster playing on the first weekend.

Hearing it will be 5.30 Saturday but who knows. Makes having draw last Wednesday all the more nonsense

The problem is Galway are at home to Antrim at 13:30 on Saturday
The SUnday is all munster hurling on TV

RTE will want Galway v Dublin on TV on saturday

Galway wont want a double header as Dublin match will be a sell out without hurling.

Galway might have to open salthill for hurling. Close it and turf everyone out - then reopen for Dublin match at 7

That would be pure greed. Surely they could just move hurling back to 3:30 and play Dublin at 5:30 as part of double header.

God the greed would make ya sick

RTE don't pick and choose games anymore. GAA will give them some options after they pick their own for GAA+.

Thanks. Was thinking that or 7 pm throw in. Hopefully the powers that be make a right decision, whenever they decide to make it
