Slán Benny Coulter

(Oldest Posts First)

Best footballer from our county for many years, and a household name across Ireland. A real pity he never got his hands on Sam in 2010, but I'll remember him better for his ability to crash home the goals in the red and black.

Sad to hear that the great Benny Coulter has decided to hang up the boots at county level

He owes Down football nothing , We all have great memories of his high fielding ability , and of course hitting the net time after time.

The thing is a player of his ability only comes along , maybe once every 15 to 20 years,

Hopefully one or more of McCorrys new faces will be that man

Gutted that he has decided to hang up the boots but at the same time the lad has give it all to the cause and owes us nothing. In his prime, when Benny got the ball you knew a goal was always on his mind. He deserved hi AI in 2010 but alas that was not to be. A true DOWN GREAT.

Sad Benny didnt stay for one last season but he owes us nothing and has given Down supporters many fantastic days and moments.
Off the pitch he was equally magnificent and I remember him doing a club presentation with our juveniles when he spent ages chatting to them all and signing autographs for ages, a real decent fella
