what a warrior and servant to Monaghan football just like his father before him - delighted he along some some of the older lads got a bit of success at the end of his career - no doubt he will be involved with monaghan again in the future - how we could do with a new 21/22 version of him at the minute - FrankAnnyalla (Monaghan) - Posts: 329 - 01/11/2016 10:03:19 1930572 Link 1 |
Great statements above what a servent and the piece he wrote on his retirement sums up the man- class act. bomber123 (Monaghan) - Posts: 63 - 01/11/2016 10:15:13 1930576 Link 1 |
His longevity , work ethic , skill and determination surely put him up there in the pantheon of greatest ever Monaghan players . Thanks for everything Dick. bluemoon (Monaghan) - Posts: 103 - 01/11/2016 10:48:37 1930586 Link 1 |
Thanks dick for the memories, incredible service given since 1999 you owe monaghan at this stage. Defo the right decision its time now to let the hair down and chill abit! I hope finlay and gorey follow suit. Intercounty football is an unforgiving environment and time waits for no man so like dick these great servants owe monaghan nothing either. mick2007 (Monaghan) - Posts: 277 - 01/11/2016 11:08:40 1930594 Link 0 |
Dick give a great service and was a very decent footballer. He will probably be looking to concentrate on winning something with Currin in junior in the next couple of years, possibly a junior championship as not sure if they have any championship silverware. sporto (Monaghan) - Posts: 134 - 01/11/2016 11:50:55 1930608 Link 0 |

Thanks dick for all your hard work with Monaghan you were an inspiration especially with the younger lads on the panel agree with sporto let the older lads decide themselves not have other people telling who should retire or not they are big enough bold enough and old enough to know what is right for them and dick happy retirement will be missed Crazyhorses (Monaghan) - Posts: 68 - 01/11/2016 12:49:38 1930626 Link 0 |

Congratulations Dick on a great career and fantastic service to the county through the lows and the high of recent years. His commitment was unwavering. I remember his competitive debut in the National League under Jack McCarville in Breffni Park in October 1999. To his last game against Donegal. Always put his heart into and the best compliment I could give him, is that he always gave 100%. shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1853 - 01/11/2016 18:28:55 1930732 Link 0 |

Echoing all of the above, He led by example and dedication, I'm looking forward to seeing his young fella pulling on the county Jersey.. Regarding Finlay an Corey, I hope they stay around for another while.. When Finlay has the ball there is always a buzz in what is coming next.. Great article in the Irish Times yesterday about where we were at when he started his career nice reminder to us all what likes of Dick,Jap,Vinny and older players have given the jersey and where they took us as fans over last decade and a half. Owe us nothing lucky to have had them as players in that time.

Thanks Dick.... a true Monaghan Legend, no doubt. Gave everything for the county!..... I think we'll be seeing him on "media work" as he will be "sought -after" in media circles. More, importantly I would love to see Dick involved in Co. set up, a lot to offer! Again, THANKYOU Dick. Monaghan Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 400 - 03/11/2016 20:13:13 1931332 Link 0 |
