Thought we done reasonably well against a very decent Roscommon team. Some days the balls go over the bar more than wides but not yesterday. You can't have shooting accuracy like yesterday and expect to win. Real positive was the fight back to the very end. The new rules make for much more exciting games though and I'd rather lose in a game like yesterday than win a game 0-0-08 to 0-07 which was happening under the old rules.

The 3up/back rule will be un-manageable in club games. There will be murder on the sidelines as there's no way one ref can police that especially when you add in the mix games played in long grass and poorly marked pitches.

It was great to be back in Drogheda and see a full bank this early in the year.

Replying To PK57:  "It's impossible to judge Louth properly with the amount of players missing at the moment. We were without Ryan Burns, Dan Corcoran, Ciaran Keenan, and Conor Grimes yesterday. While in the squad overall we are without Anthony Williams, Bevan Duffy and Ciaran Byrne(presumably all injured). We are expecting players only out of U20 level to win us games against a team like Roscommon who are the best team in the division."
Hadn't saw that one but if true then we would have had another point. Anything could have happened. Don't think Joey was at same game. New rules mean a big lead can be hauled back quickly. This nearly happened yesterday and also last week.. Good that our lads are fighting. I'd have good hopes for them.

Roscommon much better team on Sunday, fully deserved the win, wont criticize our lads too much , still a few missing and craig lennon early departure a blow.

Definitely need to beat Cavan or we will be looking down the table instead of upwards in my opinion.

One thing i will say about Sunday, our goalie making more bad kick outs/lack of concentration, cost us 4-6 points, similar in Mullingar the week before.
Great shot stopper, but collectively as a team and him , must improve.

Rossies the better outfit and good luck to them, they'll get promoted. Our lads battled well and with so many missing players its great to see so many young lads and new players getting a run out. Cavan is a must win for sure and they badly need a win on their home patch.

New rules reinstate a dominant midfield wins you the game. Kick outs all contested. Louth need to be street wise with the shooting for 2 point scores particularly around frees received

I think the new rules are ideal for Deckie Byrne in goals. See what Rafferty did for Armagh on Saturday night. Kicking long points etc as he did for Mochta's last year.

Another Westerns man on the way to a Monaghan club. Don't like to see it personally.
Has the time finally come for a Seans/Glyde/Westerns superclub to emerge?

No complaints. The best team won. The Rossies took their chances. Louth did not. That was some crowd there in Drogheda. It was their first league game there in five years. More worrying they have not won a league match there since 2019.

Its very disappointing to see this happen Westerns. They've nurtured some top talent there in the form of Tommy Durnin and this young Maguire chap. How are their mentors feeling who put the hours and years in at juveniles?

It's not easy on smaller clubs in the county and I can foresee senior amalgamations in the not to distant future or even clubs disbanding. County board aren't in touch with the smaller rural clubs. They've increased the monthly levee to €300 per month after running the €200 Darver levee for the last 15 years and its been the same for all clubs. Clubs like the Seans, Westerns, Ann Rovers etc pay the same as a Cooley Kirkham's and there's a vast difference in membership fee take ups which leads to a larger financial They've allowed top young talent leave smaller clubs to larger clubs, they've allowed senior and intermediate clubs vote on league matters this year without proper consultation and dialogue, they've entered a D4 team in to the KMS shield.

A few years ago there was a proposal for a Baile Talun type parish regional team to enter the senior championship and it was rejected, at least this would have helped Westerns etc keep these guys.

Compliments to the producers of last week's programme. Lots of interesting stuff like what Ollie has in his head. E.g. captains since 1943 or number of games played by current panelists. Keep it up.
Ironic to have a minute with Craig. Hope he recovers soon.
It was a bit pricey @ €5 when 40% sponsored.

Paddy Keenan was the best Louth captain we ever had. What a player and a what leader. A role model on and off the pitch.

Paddy was super. He had so many great games against top teams but one performance I won't forget . We were playing Waterford in Frahers Field in Dungarvan in the last round of the 2011 Division 3 league. Half way through the second half we were well down and heading to Division 4. Paddy turned the switch and took off. Twenty minutes later we were in Division Two and qualified for the division final which we won. The sheer joy of it and the changed mood for all in red.

Paddy played for Ireland against Australia one Saturday night in Croke Park and turned out for the Pats the following morning in the Clans field.

A man for all seasons.
