Thought Hickey from Raharney, Coll from Delvin and Cuneen from Brownstown are players with a future.

It's interesting that apparently we were so tactically poor... But that the head coach is going back in on the new management team. Doesn't responsibility for that stop with him?

Huge result for the Gaels last night. soreknee (Westmeath) - Posts: 135 - 08/08/2019 11:12:27 2222618 Link 0 |
Clonkill will beat Pollard a point a man. Getting men back at the right time, timing their run as the system allows. Pollard are poor they took advantage of Raharney minus a third of their 1st team and already qualified Tuesday night but will be no match for Clonkill or the Gaels. that might be true, however something is clearly not right in Clonkill at the moment with both teams going badly

Their current manager is a clever guy he knows their championship starts in 6 weeks and they'll be nice and fresh coming into it

A felah in the club told me he was but looks like pub talk now if the newspaper reports are true... Would Michael Walsh a good or bad move? Few of the boys would tell ya they really liked him but it's back to last years set up then again... hard to know LockLeanGayl (Westmeath) - Posts: 133 - 09/08/2019 22:54:36 2223238 Link 0 |
Any update on the management and back room team for the coming year? Westmeathk (Westmeath) - Posts: 10 - 17/08/2019 17:27:40 2226794 Link 0 |
Standard of refereeing in Park yesterday evening was poor to say the least. Are they answerable to anyone at county board level - is there an assessor in stands for senior championship games ? puglerdaly (Westmeath) - Posts: 74 - 25/08/2019 12:45:11 2229144 Link 0 |
I didn't see anything wrong with the refereeing in the two games the standard of hurling was very poor . Can you point out where the refereeing was not up to standard expected

All entitled to own views but for me the 1st game particularly was dreadful at times. Just some of decisions were - Seen one player get dangerous shoulder to head as he was going down for ball and free given other way. Use of advantage rule was very inconsistent. Second yellow given to Delvin player was a shocking decision. In second game there was two blatant and dangerous pulls from each side across a player with hurl and no free even though ref was right beside both incidents. My question is primarily are they assessed during game days because to me standard overall has been poor all year. And no I've no interest in reffing myself ! puglerdaly (Westmeath) - Posts: 74 - 25/08/2019 14:00:24 2229162 Link 0 |
And yes the standard of hurling was poor ! puglerdaly (Westmeath) - Posts: 74 - 25/08/2019 14:02:27 2229165 Link 0 |
Standard in first game Last night was very good. The Gael s played their best match in years but even so Collins in goal was man of the match. Joggers point at the end was sheer class.Castletown although they Could have won are short of forwards O Brien and the two Deegans are big losses.

What happens if there is a 3 way tie / which can still happen for 1st place in Div 1 and for 2nd place in Div 2 of senior hurling ? Does it then go to score difference ? puglerdaly (Westmeath) - Posts: 74 - 26/08/2019 10:02:43 2229310 Link 0 |
Placings in Div 1 (for the top 3) will be decided by scoring difference, as there won't be a team knocked out of the championship, in Div 2 however a playoff or playoffs will be required as a team or teams cannot be knocked out on scoring difference or head to head. Also, if Pollard beat The Gaels, then Clonkill and Pollard will have to play off for 4th spot. Open to correction on this.

When the league section of the SHC and IHC is played, can someone explain how this will impact on the new structure for next year? gedupoutofit (Westmeath) - Posts: 86 - 26/08/2019 17:09:06 2229483 Link 0 |
Two groups will have 6 teams . Nobody will be demoted and one team will go from senior group 2 . Two intermediate finalist will go into senior B. Both groups will be separate competitions and will go into semis after the groups . I don't agree with the change because it leaves teams like delvin a couple of years ago having a good year and nearly beating a top team in a semi ever having that chance. Senior B is essentially intermediate again.

Do bottom team in division 1 not play 2nd team in div 2 for last spot ? puglerdaly (Westmeath) - Posts: 74 - 26/08/2019 23:50:45 2229615 Link 0 |
