I think that's being very disingenuous to that club. manfromdelmonte (UK) - Posts: 541 - 18/04/2019 23:22:46 2179524 Link 0 |
Another game played on Thursday in the intermediate hurling championship and zero coverage given to the game. No fixture, no result. valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1791 - 20/04/2019 09:45:30 2179640 Link 0 |
Valley welcome back we haven't heard from you in a while but i suppose when everything was going well winning the Keogh Cup and then the NHL div 2 there wasn't the room for your brand of negativity. I wonder would you volunteer to help with the communications or get your club(do you have a club) to nominate you to the county board or something like that as you would clearly bring us to a better place

The only people being negative are those who don't bother carrying out their roles. A simple list of the fixtures on social media and county board website in advance of games isn't too hard. Wait until the junior and intermediate football starts up and see the coverage! On a beautiful weekend nobody knew that there were intermediate hurling games on, unless you buy the local papers. It's the only championship being rub during the 'club month' of April and zero promotion. At the end of the year at convention I know there'll be a discussion about the gate receipts. valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1791 - 21/04/2019 13:04:06 2179734 Link 0 |
How many other clubs would even compete never mind win an game if they were pulling from the same 18-20 players as Turing are every year, you right very disingenuous to that club

Not being critical of the bunch of young lads but our recent U17 and Celtic challenge results show how far back underage hurling standards in the county have gone. valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1791 - 06/05/2019 12:34:49 2182098 Link 1 |
Likewise not criticizing this group or indeed the management but the underage development teams need to be looked at very quickly by the board.

How are fixed for the Offaly game? Any word on injuries or lads returning to the panel? gedupoutofit (Westmeath) - Posts: 86 - 16/05/2019 13:49:12 2184593 Link 0 |
Owen Price is back as far as I know. Tough game ahead, Offaly need to win, we can't start with a loss, we have to travel to Laois and Antrim I think so home wins are vital

Great win for Westmeath and I'm surprised by the margin. Losing the Laois game seems to have really affected Offaly. gedupoutofit (Westmeath) - Posts: 86 - 18/05/2019 16:51:15 2185240 Link 1 |

mighty performance . great win and fully deserved . they were far superior to offaly and were much fitter . aonghus clarke and niall mitchell were outstanding while killian doyle is a scoring machine . well done to all

Great win, but Offaly were poor. valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1791 - 18/05/2019 22:07:20 2185331 Link 0 |
I hope theres a few good years on the way....Westmeath must surely be at their peak now at senior hurling or can they get better....I hope they make the most of it because the underage looks a bit worrying again with the minors etc...something like on a standard of 15 years ago. I didn't think id see Offaly as poor as 2016 all over again...Its a very competitive competion though..still tough games to come... preddan (Kildare) - Posts: 514 - 18/05/2019 23:38:06 2185364 Link 0 |
Westmeath played very well today and the age profile of the team suggests even better days lie ahead.Only Derek Mcnicholas and Paul Greville are the wrong side of thirty with most of the rest 25 or under.I think we need to take this one game at a time as inexperience could cost.Nevertheless with the likes of Varley,Gallagher,Price,Shaw,Clinton,Power and Devine on the bench nobody is going to be cocky on the starting line up.

There are good underage hurlers in the county though at club and school level. valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1791 - 19/05/2019 15:05:09 2185499 Link 0 |
Great win today for minors. Showed great heart throughout.
