contribution of the half forward line was excellent on Saturday , well done to the three of them , more needed from the inside line , I'd go with Smith at full forward if I was McGeeney as Roc will clean out Toc like he did in the league , with Johnston and Doyle in the full forwrad also , I think Kildare should play a conventional style of football , as Dublin will power through any blanket defence like they've done all year and Kildare will be isolated up front waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13598 - 03/06/2013 13:46:27 1397603 Link 0 |
Good post Murlo111, would agree with Smith coming in for O'Connor but wouldn't want Brophy dropped and can't see McGeeney doing it either. Full forward line will hopefully be Smith, Brophy and Doyle. Alternative might be Leper moving to full-forward who would maybe start dragging ROC around the place. As for a conventional footballing style, do you mean man for man? We'd be ate alive. I think with Dublin you either go very defensive or you push right up and go for it. The latter might be Kildare's best chance but that will be a big ask of the Kildare full back line if they get isolated. doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 03/06/2013 14:11:57 1397633 Link 0 |
Waynol ill take your word for it. But the mental side of it id say will be Gavin's biggest challenge. Im sure he can focus minds though royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17152 - 03/06/2013 16:29:05 1397751 Link 0 |
Doublehop.. Are you blind? Did you not see how good callaghan was on saturday and you want him in full forward ?? Madness! cilldara14 (Kildare) - Posts: 254 - 03/06/2013 16:56:19 1397768 Link 0 |
No cilldara14 I actually didn't see the game as I was away so I would admit I was just thinking out loud. But we've been cleaned out at full forward with big men against Dublin before and I was just speculating what else we could do. And in fairness to Leper when he's on it he has the ability to put in a man of the match display from almost any position on the field. doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 03/06/2013 17:19:35 1397780 Link 0 |

What worries me about the upcoming match is that while we scored 19 points against Offaly on Saturday night (the same as last year) we let in 1 - 12 (1 - 6 more than last year). This seems to signify that, allowing for the fact that Offaly have improved on their 2012 performance, our defence has disimproved. Going on this what will Dublin do to us, I fear a major hiding unless Geezer is able to work a miricle. The speed with which Dublin attack and the number of options they create is frightening. I hope we don't use the same tactics as we did in the league of packing the defence as this won't work. OntheWhiteSide (Kildare) - Posts: 452 - 04/06/2013 09:52:32 1398138 Link 0 |
This game is Dublins to lose tbh. It'll be close until the last 10 - 15 minutes and I expect the dubs excellent forward line to pull them away then. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 3890 - 04/06/2013 09:56:26 1398146 Link 0 |
Love the positivity from the lilly fans! for some reason as the four weeks go by I think Kildare will become more confident thats why Gavin was complaining about the four week gap if it was played in two weeks time the Dubs would probably took Kildare but four weeks is a good time to rectify like I said as the weeks go by im becoming more confident. Its championship football lads Kildare are hard beat on their day. lilywhitemagic (Kildare) - Posts: 1693 - 04/06/2013 12:36:36 1398285 Link 0 |

At what point did I say Gavin would be worried about Kildare? lilywhitemagic (Kildare) - Posts: 1693 - 04/06/2013 13:39:31 1398359 Link 0 |

We can beat Dublin, but unfortunately short of the earth, moon, stars and Halley's Comet aligning in unison I can't see it happening. if_in_doubt (Kildare) - Posts: 3643 - 05/06/2013 13:14:38 1399216 Link 0 |
good post if in doubt, sensible review--if its a transition type year I wonder if Ryan is primed to take over? I would like to see mcgeeney stay on, we are way more competitive under him than previous managers, no silverware but only 1 manager has done that in the last 30 years plus so can't really beat him with that stick and we were unlucky a few times. switec (Kildare) - Posts: 525 - 05/06/2013 13:30:41 1399236 Link 0 |
Throwng the white flag in already, Kildare have a serious chance of beating the DUBS, who have a poor full back line and only i midfielder and a few selfish forwards. naasmanxrhode (Offaly) - Posts: 39 - 05/06/2013 14:09:55 1399301 Link 0 |
@naasmanrhode - I think thats a great way of looking at it and I dont think its far off the mark at all. Bigwilly (Kildare) - Posts: 136 - 05/06/2013 14:51:44 1399378 Link 0 |
