Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, some bunch of nut jobs in the Ulster council, comedy gold these lads and the way they treat hurling...

Is there nowhere in Donegal that could stage the game, I need to get the mileage up....

Yip, agree lads. What a total disaster! Looks like the Down players/management team are of the same opinion.

Personally I think the Ulster council should stop clutching at straws, admit they made a hanes of it in 2013 and forget it. They are trying to wriggle out of a cesspit of their own makings. NO sympathy.

Swan Song is spot on there - just gets more and more embarassing - was told Ballygalget have their dinner dance the night before on 1 February is this correct

To compound the farce we and Antrim should send up minor or U-16 teams

Do Loughgiel not have a AI Club semi-final the following W/E?
If it happens at all it will be between 2 pre-season type panels, no way to treat a Senior Provincial Championship

Dont think it Tim,Ballygalget already had dinner dance in Fiddlers Green in Portaferry in NOV 2013.

So what happens now???? Hurlers won today again ( well done to all) and should have a match in the Kehoe cup next Sunday...and an Ulster Final???????? I suppose Ulster Council had a good idea there would be a clash when they all of a sudden gave 10 days notice of the match against Antrim which would explain their desire to play the match now...seeing Antrim are out of the Leinster competition and are twiddling their thumbs!!!TOTAL disgrace. No doubt they will expect Leinster to give way to them. Why not just give the trophy to Antrim which is what they have wanted all along. Do they not realise people can see through their devious plans???

What a mess! Why would this game be scheduled with Down's participation in the Kehoe Cup. I agree with previous post - give the cup to Antrim. We beat Fingal today, well done lads. The last thing we need is playing a ton of games this early in the year resulting in player burn out and injuries. Pitches are wet and heavy and not the right time of year to be playing a provincial championship. Wise up Ulster Council!

Ulster Senior Hurling Championship Final

At last night's Comhairle Uladh CCC meeting the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship Final between Aontroim and An Dún was discussed in detail.

Subsequently, the 2013 Ulster Senior Hurling Final between Aontroim and An Dún was fixed for Sunday 2nd February at Celtic Park, Derry at 2.30pm.

While it is regrettable that we were unable to proceed with the fixture in the calendar year of 2013, the CCC and both counties remained committed to playing the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship Final.

Measures are in place to ensure that the issues which arose in 2013 will not occur again.

The Official Down facebook page (which is actually mentioning hurling for the first time this season) states that Down will play Kildare in the semi final of the kehoe cup in Newbridge next Sunday at 2.00p.m. Multi talented as our hurlers are, I don't think they can be in two places at the one time...Newbridge and Derry!!! Now. big question is....will the Ulster Council see sense and re fix the Ulster Final....or will they do what we all know they have wanted all along and award the match to Antrim. Time for them to show some genuine thought and leadership....and more importantly neutrality!!!! Interesting few days ahead. But what an awful way to treat All Ireland champions...can't see Clare being treated like this!!!!! But then they have a county board and a provincial structure that actually wants to see hurling do well.

Yet another avoidable mess created by the Ulster football council not bothering to do a bit of homework before going to press with a revised date, Croke park really should be stepping at this stage and giving them a right good rollicking for bringing the association into disrepute let alone anything relating to hurling development.

Bricktop I am fully aware of where Kildare is.....do not shoot the messenger! This has been a total farce brought on by the Ulster council and nobody else. Their inability to arrange a final is totally unacceptable, the next thing they will be blaming Down's successful run in the Christy Ring.......never their fault!

Can't believe All ireland campions Down are being treated with this lack of respect. I was reading in the paper today that Mc vinney the preseident of the ulster council launched a staunch defence of the "promotion" of hurling????? They should defend themselves by actions and not by cheap words which we all know are never backed up. tis sad to see the game being taken apart in Down as this ould be a real growth year spurred on by winning a great trophy last year and hopefully getting more young people to play the game as they have a genuine chance of winnng something. wishing Down hurling all the best for 2014 despite all the people in yeer own county and province who wish ye ill
