Good win for Galgets in Portaferry tonight without strongest player. Ports discipline very poor
and refereeing the worst I have ever seen.

RESULTS 28 MARCH 2018

MICHAEL CUSACKS 2-10 V 1-4 CRAOBH RUA
O'RAHILLYS 5-15 V 0-1 KILCLIEF
BREDAGH 0-11 V 3-14 BALLYCRAN
PORTAFERRY 2-3 V 2-14 BALLYGALGET

Awful hammering for the Ports and Kilclief tonight (although I highly commend Kilclief for fielding at this level). Michael Cusacks look to be the pick of the non-ards teams with the Crans and the Galgets picking up great wins on the road!

Long way to go however...

Surprising result in Belfast.....that Bredagh team won the u16 championship so assume they were missing a few tonight.......fair play to Kilclief but they will find this a very unforgiving league with no A/B divide.....

Think it's gonna be a long year for the ports. Their stand out players where the players for the u14 team of last year. Discipline needs to change quickly and need to somehow learn how to tackle clean and fair because it was embarrassing, referee gave portaferry very little and gave a yellow or red for any pferry challenge that went it! Wasn't overally impressed by ballygalget game changed when the first man was sent off would of liked to see how close it would of been 15 on 15.

Crans are kicking on at underage Paudie, I keep telling you. That result was no surprise to anyone who knows anything about hurling.

Bredagh peak at U14 and drop off like the snow in springtime when hard graft is required. Those wee boys they were able to walk over at U14 are now big boys who could always hurl and that's coming to the fore.

Did Coulter break his hand in the senior game I heard?

I'd have expected the Ports to give it a rattle with him out, but from all accounts there was only one team in it and the other a bit lose with the ash.

Fair play to Kilclief they're giving the hurling a good go at P6 down the last few years and there will be a few chastening results along the way, but they're one of those clubs that get the most out of limited hurlers at adult level and will always give their all.

Any Warrenpoint lads involved with Cusacks?

They've gone quiet on the hurling front!

Not sure you can say 13 pt defeat wasn't a surprise.........reality is Bredagh missing a few including couple of best players which puts some context on the scale of the defeat........to be fair that Bredagh team won a very good u16 championship two years ago and had 3-4 excellent players on the u17 county team last year so your comments are a bit off the mark there......

3-4 Point lads playing on Cusacks team and like the rest of us the Point continue to fight the good fight in difficult circumstances, you should come out of the ivory tower sometime and try some coaching in a football dominated area, might broaden your horizons and then again.....maybe not

It's good that the CPN lads have a hurling outlet in the Cusacks, it wasn't a slight on them, I just wasn't sure.

As for Bredagh missing a few, we're all missing a few now and then, but it takes 15 plus lads to be developed for a good club team, not just to be reliant on the "good" players to carry games and then not understand how no inroads are being made at senior level.

I'm in no Ivory Tower either.

Some rain the last few days.

very few pitches capable of taking that amount of rain I'd have thought!

Pitch wasn't too bad in Knock, lot of surface water in parts but at least game was played......couple of soft goals for Bredagh made difference, our lads missed a rake of scores......

Could be tight game in Ballygalget and Ballycran this week. Galget players same pretty sharp so early in the year. Expect Ports to preform a bit better this week.

No such tight game occurred. Ballycran winning out by 1-25 to 0-7. Not much can be said other than it was total domination from ourselves in the second half. Ports seem to be struggling after losing so many players from last year as they scored all 7 of their points from frees and didn't score in the 2nd half at all.

Could they not even muster 11?

That's the difference in a senior hurling club and one that isn't in a nutshell.

Consistency of effort.
