Kildare V Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I can see either lyons or o grady picking up mcmahon, i think they both have the pace to stick tight to him. For me meath look too immobile around the middle of the pitch and i can see kildare outrunnin them in the middle third. Expect callaghan mcnally and hurley to drop deep and run at meath. I presume tobin will pick up bolton and try nullify boltons attacking threat. Not sure who kildare will put on reilly or o rourke.

At the beginning of the week i was very confident of the win but the closer it gets the more i feel meath could just nick it.

Think Meath will go in hard and physical from the throw in to try and unsettle us especially the younger players. We are going to have to meet fire with fire until the game opens up. Ball out in front of the man and we should be able to get a bit of space and manoeuvre a few scores. It going to be a right battle and meath will love that. We have to equally frustrate them. Looking forward to it as it's going to be close. Hopefully the lads continue with the direct football and don't over complicate it. It's a simple game. Good luck to them.

I see Tyrone beat Louth 2-21 to 0-10.

What was the Kildare score against Louth? very similar??

Yes, but are ye as good as tyrone??
If so we are in trouble but to say we are similar to tyrone is not a bad thing for us.
Its impossible to call this but I think due to the number of injuries in the meath camp and I think kildare have a better bench might just get out with a win.
Close though!
Hope its a cracker.

I would say Meath would be close to Tyrone(if we had most of our players available),but that is not relevant to be honest..

Well, this is a big waste of time. Our half-back line has been totally absent since 2012. Remember Cork walking through in the Quarter-Final? Nothing has changed since then. No lessons learned from conceding countless costly goals

I thought Meath were fairly comfortable,I expected more from Kildare.

That was as bad as I feared it might be.....
Hopefully a game or two in the qualifiers will improve our lot for next year...
why did it take so long to try and fix the things that were so obviously broken??

Anyways such is the joys of following Kildare.

Second half was a lot better but ovreall the performance was pathetic really. We made Meath look good.At least we have a promising minor team because we can forget about anything from this squad and management.Roll on the enemies of opinion........

Expected a lot more too. Far too slow in making changes. Credit the lads for the fightback when changes were made. Don't want to blame guys but it was more than the full back line that didn't perform. Big question marks over management team. The necessary changes were evident early in the first half . Too much for the team to claw back when they were made.

Very poor support for both teams. Expect ours will drop further.

Well done Meath, good direct football and better forwards, beat us well while missing key players, they will give dublin a far better game than us. Kildare fought back well but only started playing when the game was over as a contest, just not good enough but we may go with the players we have. am sure there will be a lot of criticism of the full back line but i don't think we have better options in the county, these are the players we have and it is what it is. Onwards to the qualifiers and hope to avoid tyrone!

Not on here to gloat but really suprised how bad Kildare were until the 45th minute after that they really were impressive and could easily have got a lot closer but for the missed chances. Amazed after the first half where Meath arguably could have been a lot further ahead that no changes were made by Ryan at half time. To be honest it is a bit of a poison chalice playing Dublin in the final, vastly superior to all the teams in Leinster and even the pick of the province against them would struggle to give them a game. If Dublin are in full throttle they will beat Meath by over 10 points, easily.

1611187 Difficult game in Down for ye guys..

Not as difficult as your next game Ziggy! I think ye will do well against Dublin for a good period but they seem to to be winning their games this year in the second half by bringing on younger players and upping the tempo.
Down is a good game for us as we will have to improve dramatically to win or else get another thumping. Probably will see a lot of necessary changes as the tema that finished was a lot bettet than the starting one.

Presumably the injured players who didn't play yesterday (O'Grady, Mulhall, Cribben - the younger) will be available next day to supplement the players who came on in the second-half. Why changes weren't made at HT yesterday only Ryan can answer and his indecision effectively cost is the match - Meath probably couldn't believe their luck and promptly added another 6/7 points.

Down the next day is going to be difficult - I remember being well beaten up there at the back end of the League last year.

Getting to the final and being steamrolled would have done much damage that would linger . Let Meath take a beating and we should also recognise the most exciting outfit that has graced our game for a long time.Brolly called the Dubs a "Beacon" when you take the rest of the rubbish in totality.Down are beatable. Not great shakes ,in my opinion

I wasn't on here at all yesterday so hard luck on sunday lads, after we went 12pts up you's could easily have thrown in the towel but you's came back fighting and had me tearing my hair out with 5mins to go. I know it's no real consolation because ultimately you's wanted to be preparing for a Leinster final but if you's can find the form you's showed in that last 20mins then an AI QF is still on the cards, best of luck up in Newry anyway.
