Johnny Doyle Testimonial

(Oldest Posts First)

Surely this has to happen. One last chance to see JD in a white jersey?

Kildare 30,

Great idea. The man deserves a good send off. Knowing Johnny though I'd say he just wants to slip away without a huge fuss.

No doubt he'd have a good cause for the proceeds of a special game though.

I'd make it a triple testimonial with Earley and Roli. The three of them have given huge service to the county.

Pat Mangan and Club Kildare had organised a testimonial for Dermot and Roly for last October bank holiday against the Dubs. The planning was well advanced before Kildare County Board decided that a gathering event would raise more money and the plans were shelved

Did he not play against Westmeath? Not sure if the great man would be in favour of this.He should be left to concentrate on his club commitments.

Knowing Johnny he wouldn't want a big fuss to be made about it, but I think it's a great idea and would be nice to honour 3 great servants in a final send off. It's a pity club kildare are not around anymore because I don't think the county board would organise it

Club Kildare are very much still around.

Way off topic, but to be fair to the CB i'm not sure they could or can back an organisation such as club kildare. After all, the funds raised by this club are channelled into one team. If it's a club kildare for Kildare, all funds should be evenly divided up between one team.

Sad to see Johnny Doyle retire,a player who gave it all to the Kildare cause. He deserved to win at least a provincial title, and had more talent than some players fortunate to pick up a Cetic Cross.
Best of luck in retirement.
