Down Hurling Championship 2016 - Question

IHC
Portaferry will struggle this year. Any one who won IHC or played SHC can't play this year so they be fielding a thirds team pretty much. The boys who won IHC are now graded senior for this year.

Bredagh were beaten by Kilclief last year but you would expect them to be better organised this year.

Carryduff v Ballela is hard to call. Really depends on who is available for both teams. At this stage I'd make Ballela favorites.

Ballycran will have no bother with Galgets and should win the whole thing.

JHC

Shamrocks will cruise past Ballyvarley and I'm afraid Clonduff will have it handy enough against us.

That will leave a Clonduff/Shamrocks semi final (same as last year) with Liatroim beating NCP in the other semi final.

All to play for between Shamrocks, Clonduff and Liatroim IMO. Any one of them could win it.

Thanks Frank. So , at the risk of asking a daft question, for the IHC 2016:

1) Portaferry cannot play ANY players that played in the IHC in 2015 - correct?
2) Portaferry cannot play ANY player who played SHC in 2015 - correct?

That's right.

Any player who plays SHC is graded senior for the next season.

Any player that plays in a team that wins the IHC is graded senior for the next season unless they apply to County Board to be regraded back to intermediate. Bredagh won the IHC 2 years ago and all there players were graded senior for 2015. They applied to CCC to regraded back to intermediate and that was granted. They played IHC and Kilclief beat them so it was the right decision.

Portaferry can't enter 2 teams in the SHC so a lot of the lads who won IHC last year will have to sit out a year.

I'm not so sure. There might be a county byelaw in place now which allows the Ards clubs to name their exclusion panels instead of going by last years championship

That's for the league Bricktop. Local bye laws cant go against the official guide.

Anybody who even played senior for 2 mins as a blood sub is ruled out of IHC for the following year.

Think Franks right. That's what the rule always was.

I think all the juvenile championships are seeded accordin to league position so the MHC draw won't be known yet.
