Andun1960.........last year CPN seniors won the Intermediate Championship and reached the Ulster Final. Good enough to keep the management in their jobs for another year you would think. Unfortunately player power in CPN decided that wouldn't be the case. The soccer guys are now back on the CPN squad this year after a row with management meant they didn't play last year. They obviously have some sort of arrangement with the new management. It is never ever a good idea when the tail is wagging the dog. It is not good for morale when the soccer players who missed the game with the Bridge will just walk back into the team for the next game. That's what will happen because they are good players. Long term it wont work. Why do they deserve their places on the team over guys who commit to CPN every week??

At least we are being afforded the opportunity to do what we can to 'deserve a place' on the team this year unlike last year.

You are inferring that you hadn't got the chance to play last year - what was different about the set up within Warrenpoint last year?

Andun, the point soccer team was playin in the biggest game of there history, one of the boys is the captain and the other vice captain and i seriously doubt it will cause any ill feeling between the squad, Its definitely not a case of the tail wagging the dog.

The hurling side of NCP seems to have gone to the dogs since they stopped being Warrenpoint.

Lads, lads, lads....if nothing else, this thread sure has brightened up my lunch hour!! CPN, COF, COF, CNP...it all equals 'Warrenpoint'..I can GUARANTEE that 99.99% of the GAA circle will and ALWAYS WILL, refer to them as Warrenpoint!

Have to say, funniest quote=''Nothing to see here. Move on. Dixon of Dock Green said that.''

The club had a successful season last year. The senior team had a solid management team in place and won the county intermediate championship followed by a run to the Ulster Final. That wasn't enough for some people who thought they knew better and left the management with no option but to resign. Everyone in CPN knows who was responsible for this. It shouldn't have been allowed to happen. You reap what you sow.

Perhaps intermediate football is the standard Warrenpoint are only fit for at the moment.

League tables don't usually lie and Warrenpoint are at the bottom. They are still not out of the championship yet but my guess is it's only a matter of time. Burren were ruthless and they were determined to destroy Warrenpoint. This is the result of some CPN players and supporters rubbing it in when they beat Burren in the minor and reserve finals last year. I know for a fact that Burren wanted to shut them up. Warrenpoint have some great players coming through but they need to be managed correctly and the young lads themselves need to look after themselves if they are to make the sep up. Less partying would be a good starting point!
