It is a disgrace poacher is not on the Down backroom team, he's the best coach in Down bar none granted he's not everyones best mate but he's a winner and thats what Down need not yes men which we have had for years. The county board need to get there act together and appoint a manager along with Poacher to get the best out of these players. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 527 - 26/05/2018 13:18:52 2103967 Link 0 |

Jofus ; Really listen to yourself, Carlows win today speaks for itself, problem is Stevie is not a yes man in Down , but really in Down this is what we need someone will add a bit more bite to the team and I would say players all would buy into him , but to say your welcome to keep him as long as you want is ludicrous topdownfan (Down) - Posts: 555 - 27/05/2018 21:00:03 2104330 Link 0 |
Agree poacher is best option for down. Conor lavery and marty clarke should also be involve. These boys know about the modern game and players would buy into these lads. downtothecore (Down) - Posts: 312 - 27/05/2018 22:19:55 2104399 Link 0 |
So not being a yes man is something to be proud of? How could the county board put someone in place who they couldn't work with or would do his own thing? The type of football this man is producing is absolutely brutal and you only have to listen to people or read what is written about him to believe that putting him in place would be absolutely the wrong move.

So you want to put a man in place when the club he coaches have lost 6 games out of 9 and are currently sitting 2nd from bottom in Division 2. Add to that that the other team he coaches, Cavan U.21's, were beaten by 17 points last Sunday, 2.21 to 0.10. Yeah, that would be a great move.

Jofus;;; Think you need to get facts right before posting , last time I looked Ballyholland where playing in Division 1 !!!!!! Not division 2 as stated topdownfan (Down) - Posts: 555 - 02/06/2018 23:59:46 2106623 Link 0 |
you have to do whats best with the players you have, look at Carlow being in div 4 for years with team not being competive in either division or in Leinster championship, now look whats happened in last 12 months gave the dubs a decent game last year certainly weren't disgraced unlike other bigger counties ( Tyrone ). A;so got a couple of wins in the championship and took Monaghan right till the end of the game. Now look at this year they got promotion to div 3 already won 2 championship games and have a great chance of reaching a Leinster final now this boils down to the coaching and the players wanting to buy into a system that best suits there needs which they our doing, carlow as a county our buzzing which is great for all supporters, players etc. Ballyholland our in the same boat not as good as Kilcoo, Burren, Bridge etc but there very hard to beat if the players our not as good as others you have to find a way to be competitive. Question, do you think jim Galvin would do a better job with either of these teams i don't think so. We as a county can't afford to let our best coach go to other counties its a disgrace. Totally agree with this post , shouldn't be letting good coaches out of our county, Conor laverty another top class coach who also needs to be giving a top roll with the underage structures

Replying To Jofus: "So you want to put a man in place when the club he coaches have lost 6 games out of 9 and are currently sitting 2nd from bottom in Division 2. What about the bit about coaching Cavan U.20's as well as a Division 2 team? The last time I looked Poacher was coaching Ballyholland in Division 1, right. I was talking about Martin Clarke just to let you know. Read back through the thread. Jofus (Down) - Posts: 244 - 05/06/2018 18:03:31 2107800 Link 0 |
