Surely Meath would be in with a strong shout on the basis of making a minor All Ireland two years ago?

Hopefully they haven't got a new strength and conditioning coach though...

Meath were strong at minor that year. But Kildare ran Dublin closer than any other team...! Unlucky draw...but Dublin very strong.

I remember looking at the ages of the panel for this year's Leinster final & 5 of the starting 15 & 12 others on the panel were underage again next year so I imagine a lot of them will be back. Dan Flynn obviously won't but of those who have played senior Kelly, Hyland & Brophy all underage again. Be interesting to see if some of this year's Leinster winning minors make it too.

There were U21 trials held over the weekend. I would think after nexr week's U21 final between Balyna and Sarsfields that there will be players from both teams joining the panel.

I'd imagine the likes of Fergal Conway, David Hyland, Niall Kelly, Paddy Brophy, Barry Coffey and David Duke will be the main lads. Luke Flynn, Tony Gibbons, Sean Higgins, Shane O'Rourke should also play a big part.

That was a poor Meath team that reached the All Ireland Minor final. btw, How many of the team that started v Galway are eligible in 2014?
Sean Hurley would be over age I believe.

It was a poor Meath team and we still made the All Ireland Final. Imagine if the team was actually good. Kildare have supposedly had great underage teams over the last few years and they can't make a final.

Proevo what do you mean by 'supposedly' ? We had a great year at underage in Leinster, especially considering the strength of young Dublin teams in last couple of years. Whether you like it or not we're doing quite well at u16, minor and u 21 level. Winning Leinsters is a sure sign of underage success.

Lads Meath won All Irelands under Sean Boylan. We've only two Leinsters at senior since then.

Isn't it obvious that they have had better underage teams than us over the last few years because of this.

I mean it's only five years since they won Leinster at minor level and a dozen since anything at under 21.

We were lucky to beat them by nine points with the under 21's this year. Who would have guessed that fitness counts for so much on the scoreboard anyways? Our minors and juniors were obviously fitter too bit sure what did that matter?

But still, we only "supposedly" had a good year last year...

We'd probably be even better if the Aussies weren't coming over and taking some of our finest young talent. Some counties are so lucky not to have that problem.

The reason Kildare didn't have a say with this group at minor level is because they lost to Dublin and there was no second chance. Meath lost to Dublin in the Leinster final, because they were on the good side of the draw. They got a 2nd chance and lost again. Now that was a brilliant Dublin team but Kildare came closet to beating them. The format and the draw just didn't work in their favor, in Meaths case it did. No bitter feelings, I would say because of this, and some of the very good talent coming through, I'd fancy Kildare over Meath.

It's not like they've come over and taken 15 of our best under age players. Stop looking for excuses all the time.

Ah Daytona, you're missing the point. No excuses made. We had a very successful year at underage.
