County minor footballers 2017

Any ideas of how the team are looking this year? Very close last year to going all the way, the only difference being some nervous wides in the opening 20 minutes and two moments of magic.
There were some great prospects on that team last year, goalkeeper, fullback, corner forwards and centre forward were all gems. Any of those lads still on the team this year? The u-17 will surely hinder the minor championship too this year..

Some good players still eligible. Full back (Mulkerrins) one corner back (McFadden), Evan Murphy forwards as well as the subs, some very good players from Claregalway (Grainger/Connolly), Salthill Corofin..... Think the lads from 1999 won the Ted Webb comfortably enough so good chance they can take Connacht. After that I don't see anyone beating Kerry but I'm not too familiar with Leinster/Ulster teams at this age.

Mulkerrins still there alright A lot of last year's players gone from last year. They played Jarlaths recently and lost but had a few injuries. Also a few of Jarlaths lads played with school team. Team don't look as physically strong but early days yet. Mulkerrins in midfield position which is a big change and rumours have it young Evan Murphy might be signed up to play in America.

I hope mulkerrins is retained as a full back, he's the most promising prospect we have coming through for the senior team in that position. Was really impressed with him for the minors last year

Would agree on Mulkerrins, I was very impressed with him at fullback and was surprised to learn he was still a minor this year. If he keeps on developing he's got a great chance of making the senior panel down the line.

signed up to play what in America? I heard he has signed up to play for Galway united. he would be some loss if we lose him he was the best minor I have seen in years

After the way he was taken off last year I'm not surprised, instead of switching him & letting him settle, their best player all year & they just whipped him off. I wouldn't blame him for heading to the States or signing for United if that is the case.

I know it really was madness when you think back on it and to take off Finnerty too and drop Goldrick pure madness. one we could have won if things were right

Heard he was just back from University Soccer Scholarship trials. Fair play to him if he gets it, nothing more a young lad wants
than a chance of a professional career in sport. Never saw him play soccer but have seen him play Gaelic football many times.
He is exceptional, super athleticism and strength even at 16. A potential loss to GAA for sure, but I think soccer is his first choice.

Just seen that the Nuig freshers team are through to the colleges final. Great to see them beating UCD in the semi who always have a great standard with their appeal to young players.

Anyone know anything about any minor players that might be on that nuig team? Very difficult to find match report.

Also any incling as to what the squad will be like? Must be at the final cut if not very close to it at this point

Was just looking at the championship draw there. Different from other years - there is one preliminary round knockout fixture before the Leaving Cert - Galway against Mayo at the end of April.
So the league probably takes on extra importance this year given that first round of c'ship is so soon after.

with the recent good minor teams
nuig freshers are in the final of fresshers college all Ireland
its on next fri 03 mar in kiltoom
I presume theres a few galway lads on the team
the nuig seniors who had a lot galway lads
ie comer ,Kelly ,burke, daly, molloy, tierney
were beaten by 2 pts by the eventual winners of the sigerson st marys
its looks a lot better than recent years where there was hardly one galway lad on nuig teams

First league game scheduled this weekend for the minors. Any indications about a team as of yet? Only 7 weeks out from first championship game against Mayo. Will be interesting to see the teams named for the league.
