Don't suppose anyone has any updated info on what's happening with senior club fixtures this weekend? The above fixtures appear now to be removed from Fermanagh GAA website. Have the above scheduled round of games now been further postponed due to the derrygonnelly v slaughtneil game ?

Proposal forwarded yesdterday that the top half of division one will be finishing with semi finals and final. Think this is a logical step rather than playing games into the month of December.

In this scenario 4th and 5th place will play off for the remaining 4th spot. Winners of this will play 1st placed team, while 2nd and 3rd will face each other in the other semi.

Don't know what the story is for the rest, I am assuming they will be playing into December!

Seems that the county board are now going to play out the full fixtures for the top half of division 1. Chatting to players from other clubs affected they all want the league rounded up as quick as possible. This is another knife in the back of the Fermanagh club player!!!

sidelinecut40 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 84 - 27/10/2015 09:11:29    1802113

sidelinecut40 it's the county board/CCC that are in charge NOT the players! God help any county if they were to have their fixtures dedicated by their players. Surely, that's the reason we have elected members to the county board to make such decisions?

gaalltheway (Fermanagh) - Posts: 761 - 27/10/2015 10:34:26    1802142

gaalltheway, Tyrone got to the semi finals of the All Ireland Senior Football Championship. There is close to 50 teams playing in 3 Divisions. There leagues are near over bar relegation play offs and league finals.

Fermanagh got the quarter finals of the All Ireland Senior Football Championship. 20 teams in 2 Divisions! Sure play into December there boys, while we take a 2 month break in the summer!

Explain that one?

sidelinecut40 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 84 - 27/10/2015 13:48:02    1802263

50 teams is a misnomer. Using Div 1 as an example.
1. Tyrone Div 1 has 16 teams and they play each other once. 15 games in this division.
2. Fermanagh Div 1 has 10 teams and (with exception of this year) they play each other twice . i.e 18 games.- so there are more games to be played in Fermanagh Div 1.
3. In principal the Fermanagh county panel has a greater impact on 20 teams than the Tyrone county panel has on 50 teams.

On point 3 - the starred fixtures format agreed by the clubs and administered by the fixtures committee limits the number of games that can be played without the county players.

If the clubs want to play the league without the county panelists they can insist on this at County Convention..... Its is up to the clubs to decide on this...... not the county committee.

There is alot of ignorance on this forum.... the rules are agreed by the clubs..... the County Committee just administer them. If the players are unhappy they must go their clubs with a better plan. Several proposals in the past have already been rejected by the clubs.

In my opinion, this year was a disaster but the previous years have seen an exciting Div 1 and an improving Div 2. Of which the senior teams and county team players have benefited. Things can certainly be better but we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water over one bad year. We should have a strategy to cater for county team success - that may or may not materialise.

Fermanagh SFL league started in 12th April 2015, 29 weeks later there has been on average 13 senior football games, a DISGRACE.

Susuki82 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 56 - 27/10/2015 15:40:53    1802342

Were the clubs offered league fixtures without county players competing? Yes, they were and they rejected the proposal. Now they are making out that it's all the fault of the county board. We are not a big enough county to have county standard players getting injured in club games during the county season's football. The current club players that are complaining will just have to bite their lip and get on with it. End of story!

The league length this season was directly influenced by the county manager and I hear when clubs recently wanted the league wrapped uo quickly once again he phas influenced the county board indicating that he preferred as many fixtures as possible should be played to keep his county squad game ready. Now what do folks think of that??

See some games were off at the week end due to water logged pitches. Will these games be played before any further games be played as they will have a strong impact on the final league positions? If the weather continues as it is more games may be called off this week end coming. looking At the Fermanagh gaa web page and see that it lacks in the scores from the week end, even the tables are not up to date. Thank god for George Beacom who has all the GAA scores up to date.

It will be very unlikely that this game will go ahead due to Marty O'Brien's stag

It doesn't matter anyway as it would be mission impossible for them!
