Long_john...PLEASE do not start any negativity. The boys need support and encouragement in the lead up to this vital game. Lets turn the lovely black and amber of Mc Kenna into a sea of red and black on Saturday. Anyone who has Down gear...wear it..... anyone who hasn't wear red and black. Think what a spectacle it could be!! Weather forecast is not too bad so hopefully some sunshine and no rain to help the lads. Good luck to all the boys and to Gerard and his management team. They have worked long and hard for this opportunity.

No need to be sensitive Co.Down1. I expect the lads to win, but they need to improve on that area. No point putting the blinkers on and saying nothing, as they will only make the same mistakes again. It's tough enough winning games, without giving the opposition 15 odd scoring chance frees in a game.

All 3 Down clubs lost in the Antrim league Sunday. Did any of the players that played in Down's Christy Ring draw with Meath play in those games?

I'd say most of them played.

Funny how we got slagged all year for not going to matches in Newry. Then the biggest match for Down this season if moved nobody across the water will be near it. Ards clubs are an 1hr 15minutes away from Newry (most of team are from Ards) hardly a home game for them lads. There will be a immensely larger support as well and hope for a good game.

Im a South Down supporter and ill be at the game. Like I am whether it's in Newry or the Ards. Personally I think the Ards is the best place for it. Certainly for pitch quality and support. If people have an issue about the facilities not being up to date then surely the county board/grants could help brining these facilities up to standard. If people want to go to the games they will go. Alot just hide behind excuses. I see Bredagh are running a bus to the game. Good to see.

Anyone share my disappointment that the official Down facebook Page has as yet no mention on the big game on Saturday? it is all football, football, football......a 1st round match!! And well done Bredagh for putting on a bus! Hopefully Mc Kenna will be bursting at the seams..... with Down supporters.

Great job Bredagh. I know that there are a handful of lads going from Downpatrick and surrounding areas such Saul, Kilclief and i'm sure there will be a good amount form the Point, Ballela, Clonduff etc. It will be a great occasion and hopefully a bumper crowd. Any open mind supporter can't argue that the an Ards venue is the best option for all concerned. Let not your heart be troubled and get out in our Red & Black and cheer on the Mournemen/Ardsmen Saturday afternoon in Rubane.

Up Down.

Any team news regarding Magic and the rest of the lads as I know they took a beating down in Trim.

Well said Saulgael. Delighted there are supporters coming to the lovely Ards from all over this great county.

Disappointed to see that there is STILL no mention on Down Facebook page or Down GAA site of tomorrow's big game. Is it possible that those who update these are annoyed the match is in the Ards? hopefully they are not that childish! Funny how the football team was up last night and even though Hoganstand have the hurling team on Down cannot be bothered even to mention it. In the past the Facebook page has encouraged fans to attend the hurling games.... when they were in Newry! I am saddened by this petty attitude. All the more reason to fill Mc Kenna on Saturday. Good luck to the team and management. We will do our best to cheer you to victory! We KNOW you can do it.

There's a bus loads of us coming up form Kiltale/Trim area and I believe we'll be coming from Belfast as it a better road than navigating our way down through the country. Would have been nice if the game was in Newry, but we're going to see a part of the country we've never seen before and we hear the peninsula is very beautiful. Do you fellas recommend any good spots in Kircubbin for a bite to eat and a few pints before we head to Ballycran? According to the map, Ballycran looks very close to Kircubbin?

Looking forward to the game, but don't think the nerves can take the same type game as last week. Should be a great game. Good luck.

Kiltaleman82 head through Kircubbin towards Portaferry after about 2-3 miles you will see the Saltwater Brig on your right-hand side; car parking, great food and a few Down fans will be there prior to throw-in. Pitch is only 1.5 miles or so from there and locals can direct you. Heres a link for you, enjoy the trip

Looks like the weather is going to hold for the big game. Come on Down. Looking forward to a big crowd in Mc Kenna cheering the boys in red and black to a final in Croke Park next week. Good luck to all... players and management. Hope all the hard work pays off for you all.

Excellent performance lads. Congratulations to all involved and all the best in Croke next Saturday against Kerry - looking forward to it. Great start to the weekend for Down Gaa, fingers crossed that the Footballers can complete the double tomorrow in Celtic Park.

Very proud to be at McKenna Park today as a supporter of Down Hurling. let's hope it's 3rd time lucky next week in Croke Park. Anyone know roughly how many where at the game today? I guess around 400/500, but I'm bad at those type of guesses.
