Rossa and Portaferry are relegated, Sarsfield's and St Galls are promoted. END OFF! silvertoungue (Antrim) - Posts: 101 - 31/10/2013 15:32:44 1507822 Link 0 |
if portaferry are definately relegated it might be a blessing as some people on here would like them to play the new blood after the last couple of minor finals have been attended and some of them they have won, so the talent is there but i do admit it is quite a difficult step to take minor to senior Christy4Down (Down) - Posts: 177 - 31/10/2013 15:53:23 1507834 Link 0 |
THE SHAFT knows best lads,Ports ARE safe ,email sent out,so lets rejoice in all 3 Ards clubs hurling in div 1 next year, wasnt so long ago Crans had to drop and Galgets only avoided the chop last year because no teams were relagated. If we want to build on this years Christy Ring win we need our top 3 senior clubs in antrim. Although Portaferry will play in division 1 next season I can only hope they have learnedly from their flawed performances through out the past year. A new season a new team required at the helm. As previously posted Down need their three senior clubs playing in the top tier of hurling which is currently available. swan song (None) - Posts: 451 - 06/11/2013 21:00:58 1510119 Link 0 |

Looking back the Ports have been fairly successful at minor level for the past 4 or 5 years,it takes a while for minors to adapt to senior level, some will never make the transition, ballycran only started to see the fruits of their labour a while after their minor winning teams came through, maybe this will be the case with portaferry, although the commitment and mindset of the players is the big factor in all this, the fault cant all be put on the management,if some of the players were as driven and commited as the men in charge they wouldnt have been where they are, time to grow up boys!!! Never wrang cahill, here's what I posted after 'you' beat Rossa, the last bit is even more pertinent after the non attendees at the game in Ballygalget, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Time for the Ports to see the bigger picture and let the lads not fully committed to the cause (no matter who's managing) go and play their golf and stroke their egos on a high stool. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2477 - 07/11/2013 15:32:29 1510427 Link 0 |
On the bringing the minors through to senior thing, I have to say Ballygalget seem to somehow managed to get James McGrath looking like a pretty decent prospect of a centre back, I never saw that one coming as he looked like a good hurler at minor but his attitude was poor, similarly John McManus is thriving at senior level, but he's wasted in corner back IMO. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2477 - 07/11/2013 15:55:19 1510447 Link 0 |
Is the ports u16 manager not last years senior manager who guided them to a championship win, dont see your logic on that one breezeblock ???? Having watched both their u16s and minors this year the ports have some very good hurlers with the right attitude. THE.SHAFT (Down) - Posts: 198 - 07/11/2013 22:03:51 1510671 Link 0 |
Just heard that the new management team 4 the ports has been appointed and ready te start straight after xmas.......any truth in that yin blocktop? Have a wee look in ur crystal and let us no. cahill (None) - Posts: 2567 - 11/11/2013 15:23:23 1512076 Link 0 |
That'd be a pleasant surprise as the lads who took all the abuse this year had to be coaxed into taking them after no one else wanted it. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2477 - 12/11/2013 13:12:01 1512538 Link 0 |
