Well done to the Bannermen. What a great start to the campaign & another two points assured hopefully in the next outing against Kilkenny. Things could be looking up for McDermott's men. Heard Ger Quinlan was godd at midfield.
Well done to all in Clare .. was at the game and Clare have improved a lot on last year . Took Clare 30 mins to find their feet , good performances from the Tubridy's , Quinlan , Russell, Duggan & Kelly .
With the Kilmurray players back later in the year , further progress beckons..
Yes it was a nice win to the start of the league and would like to think with Mc Dermott and Mc Hale in charge that its upwards from here. One word of warning however Clare got off to a good start last year and other seasons previously and then flopped so wouldnt read too much into it yet. Remember the first half was dreadful by Clare, the backs won ball after ball for Clare were superb but how many balls went into the forward line in the first half and each time stephen kelly came out with it????? Against another team Clare could have hammered at half time! Just would be cautious that Clares comeback in the second half was more down to Wicklows collapse and therefore I wouldnt read too much into it yet except to say that one of their rivals for promotion at least is down a game already which gives clare a small chance of promotion if they continue to win games! Thats the big if!
remember if quilty win the all ireland semifinal football will be in high with mcdermott but if they loose id like to think Clare wouldnt also start loosing! Its a fine line with Clare football and early days yet! A feast doesnt suit Clare as they can get carried away and then flop as the year goes on!
Good start all the same they need to keep it up now and not let down Mc Hale and Mc Dermott!
Lets hope they remain top of the league! If they flop after the Wicklow game it will be the same story or if kilmurray were to loose Clare may fade away too! So good start but no better than last year when they had a good start! Fingers crossed.
