John Conlon

(Oldest Posts First)

Rumours coming from yesterdays match between NUIG and Dublin are that John Conlon has broken his leg. This would be a savage blow to John and to Clare hurling this year if its true. Can anyone that might have been at the game confirm or deny this?

He has a suspected ankle injury, was taken to Limerick for scans, however there was too much swelling so it will be a few days before scans can be done and full extent of injury is known.

D O Donovan also taken off injured in same match. Don't think it's too serious though.

Lads can anyone explain to a clare fan like me how sparrows clare went from beating Tipperary on wednesday night
to getting hammered yesterday sunday by waterford? IT JUST DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!

Is it that Clare were holding back as playing waterford in the championship? No way and if so sad but No.

Is it that when lads like Conlon, Nicky, O'Donovan etc are missing playing colleges matches that we know what
the so called great manes of Diarmaid Mc Mahon and Alan Markham are like!

Its time Mc Mahon and Markham were dropped their performances over the years have been inconsistently poor.
Thats why Clare got hammered by waterford yesterday!

Ps great to see Tuohy played in goals instead of brennan.

steel would you give over - what age are you? You sound about 12.
McMahon and Markham have given and hopefully will continue to give great service to Clare. With the two Tony's, Colin Lynch, Gillie gone this year and so many other legends hanging up the boots in recent seasons we have a real deficit of experience at the moment. You need some older heads as well as the new batch coming through.
We won all irelands in the mid 90s and there were a couple of players on those teams that weren't as good as either McMahon or Markham. Unfortunately by the time they arrived on the scene things were in decline and that generation of players have been unfortunate not to win something.

John Conlon is a superb talent and i hope to god he plays for Clare for many years to come.....this Clare team is developing nicely.....the Game between LIT and NUIG had a host of Clare players involved...there is talent there in the Banner...they just need to get the belief....winning Division 2 would do nicely to bring these young lads on and have a real go at Tip and the rest in Munster.
