Eamonn Callaghan 2013 Captain

(Oldest Posts First)

I think Leper was a fantastic choice as captain, has been an inspirational player for Kildare for many years. It's not until he is out of action we see the amount of work he puts in. Also he is one of the most versatile players Kildare have, he would put in an All-Star performance in any of the 15 positions on the pitch. Delighted to see him get it, was vice to Johnny for a few years and has fully earned the role now. Hopefully he can shake off all his recent injury worries and inspire Kildare to a silver-lined summer.

Is he guaranteed a place on the team with all his injuries, he seems to be injured for at least 6 months every year???

Have to agree leper is a very good choice for captain. Hopefully he can stay injury free this year

Tend to agree with NaasmanRhode. Leper has been a class act for Kildare but has ongoing injury concerns. Best of luck to him.

Wow, I have to say I didn't see that one coming. Hopefully it means Geezer is very confident Leper's injuries are behind him for the year. Fingers crossed he's right. As someone else said, if fit, he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet for me. Going to be very interesting to see where he lines up on Saturday

He's been lucky in the past with injuries but over the past two seasons he has been through the absolute ringer. Hopefully it's all in the past now but he is the type who could lead from the sidelines. A very accomplished player and would make any county panel in this country. He had his problems but I think if these are in the past it will only lead to him coming back a better, stronger and more resilient player. I wish him every success as Kildare captain and hope he can lead Kildare to a Leinster title he so badly deserves but has eluded him to day. Maybe he can even go one further and win Sam, fingers crossed.

He's a good player, but he hasn't played much football recently. I would have liked to see Johnny hang onto it for his last year
