League Points System

(Oldest Posts First)

I seen that the points system seems to have changed back from 3 points for a win (for the 1st, 2nd and last league game) to be just 2 points for a win?

Anyone know whats up with that?

Some wins are two point games and some are three point games as some games no club will have county players available but games will go ahead.

I think that's the point he was making. Round one and two were meant to be three point games. When the league table was updated that was the case. League table was changed during the week and is now only allocating two points for the three point games.

Exactly,

So are the tables correct? has it been changed again so that the first two games were only worth 2 points?

It's a joke of a system to be honest, from my understanding rounds 1&2 and 8&9 were ment to be 3 pointers

It's a bit of a farce in my opinion, and I can see it being challenged at the end of the year if a team is relegated or promoted because of it.

Plenty of teams without any county representation, how can one say that beating them in round one is worth more than beating same team in round 4 with the same players playing?

It doesn't stand up to any logic.

Spot on. Ridiculous idea. At this stage league games are only glorified challenge matches to be honest, you had Naomh Anna playing Div 4 league for a few years while still senior and you see intermediate teams in Div 1 & 2 who can't get up. But this 2 points for one round and 3 for another is madness

Possible legal challenges looming at the end of the year. How could one team after two wins have six points & the same team after three wins still have six points. Did someone change the goalposts on the rules ? No surprise though.

I think it is a technical issue which is to be resolved shortly. I think round 1and 2 are still 3 pointers.
