Parsons a fantastic man to have on the bench but imp it would be a big call to start or bring him on midfield. Maybe you know more and Parsons might be going well at training but what I'd be worried about is he hasn't seen much game time up to this. But if he's training well he is one player who will leave everting on the field alright.

It's a good thing that we're close to the final and players fighting for places. Toman, you're right, let Dublin worry about us for this time. Too many teams, including us, faced them already giving them a psychological advantage. We've good chance of beating them if we don't take a backward step, keep the heads up when things aren't going our way and don't retreat to defend a lead. In 2016 popular opinion said we'd do well to finish within 10 points of Dublin and even after gifting them two goals they didn't beat us that day. But we didn't win either. 2017 was another poor start. Who knows how this could go but I'm sure Horan and his backroom team will have this team fit and focused and believing they'll win. They need to go and do what it takes to win it. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 5997 - 11/12/2020 20:37:20 2321453 Link 0 |
Love to see James Carr with his direct running and Fionn Mc Donagh make an appearance against the Dubs. Any word on Ciaran Treacy. His pace would cause them hassle. BigJmchalepark (Mayo) - Posts: 26 - 13/12/2020 19:04:52 2322053 Link 0 |
All three seemed like strong prospects only 18 months ago and there's a reasonable chance Carr and McDonagh may make the bench, if fit. Carr actually played quite well against the Dubs last year but for all his movement he only got picked out with one decent pass, after which he beat his man and put the ball over the bar. Not another good ball came his way though, which sums up last year.... attacks too often got bogged down because they were too slow. If the Dubs succeed in slowing things in the same ways next Saturday we're going to find scores hard to come by and desperation tactics will play into their hands (hopeful balls kicked into a crowded defence or players getting mugged trying to break tackles). We've done the same to other opponents so will need to be patient, whatever happens.
