Brainless tactics for that second half. Absolutely baffling.

An atrocious 2nd half mind set.

Absolutely shocking tactics in the second half that's where the game was lost. No intensity no desire no fight all from a deflated second half trying to hold onto a lead. I was skeptical of Banty getting the job but now the county board needs to look and realize it's not about money or the money he puts on the table it's about football. The stalewarts of our county will be ashamed of that performance today

Atrocious stuff altogether, I've no idea why we shut up shop halfway through a game.

I thought people were being harsh about the setup this year and that we should give them the benefit of the doubt. I was wrong. Absolutely zero semblance of a plan on show there, we got what we deserved.

The big question now is : if you're Conor Mc Manus do you stay on for another year putting up with dogs abuse to put up with this s***.

Shocking 2nd half tactics, and shocked the players on the field couldn't adapt when things were going south..

Again and again they plodded into contact and lost turnovers that Cavan capitalised on.

I think you're right would like to think that's the end of this particular experiment.
Time to get a manager who knows how to coach/ manage, time to get some of the better young players into the squad.
Also time to get rid of those who obviously aren't up to it but who always seem to feature anyway.

The rest of the country are now asking what people in Monaghan were asking this time last year - why did they hire Banty again?

Not really
More often or not this group of players have wilted when the pressure has come on

Hopefully on this forum now there can be some proper debate into the failure of this team rather than the cosy in the garden narrative about the strides Monaghan are making.

Management almost entirely to blame for that fiasco.
Apart from the last 15 mins of the first half the tactics were appalling or non existant. Trying to be smart by not bothering to play in the second half was always going to blow up in your face. Has this tactic ever worked anywhere ever? Banty always outsmarts himself. Monaghan produced 75 minutes of directionless football.
Taking off all of McCarthy, Bannigan and O'Hanlon was just brainless. All pace gone, where was the drive going to come from?
Monaghan were a shambles by the end. Another wasted year for the senior players. If it hadn't blown up today it would have done so the first time they met a half competent team.

It was cheeky of Banty to refer to last year's performance as embarassing. Clearly a dig a Malachy. There's no comparison between the two. He now needs to do the decent thing and resign. Fat chance I'd say.

Cavan did the Cavan thing, they are a division 2/3 team. They won't worry the Ulster championship. Monaghan, with a decent manager would have won by 10 pulling up (in fact if they'd taken their goal chance they would have but once they didn't go they were finished). Div 1 footballs is fine but that's not what people are in the game for.

I think it annoyed the Cavan players as much as the Cavan people the fact that Banty said it was embarrassing losing to Cavan in Breffni last year!
Wonder his thoughts on losing in fortress Clones?

Monaghan management took too long to make substitutions in the second half. Also it seemed like monaghan didn't realise things weren't working in second half and were not told to change things up after the second water break.

Let's debate then, who is going to lead them in the first instance, and how could any Monaghan supporter not feel embarrassed

What, who were the two subs he took off, O Hanlon should never have been taken off
