Replying To hillbilly.:  "erneboy I like the way that you published the league tables as it highlights the top performers and the strugglers. I see this publishing concept as a good way of focusing on how teams are doing and it helps to motivate both the top and bottom teams.

SFL 1
-----------------------------------The Top Performers---------------------------------------
Pos. Team P W L D F A Pts
1 Derrygonnelly 9 7 2 0 161 110 14
2 Erne Gaels 9 6 2 1 137 112 13
3 Irvinestown 5 2 2 148 125 12
4 Roslea 9 6 3 0 155 133 12
5 Teemore 9 4 3 2 121 115 10
If your team is in the top sector like my own Teemore side who know that they must work hard to stay above the benchmark and that is good motivator for us especially as we have been only been promoted to division one. We have a good motivating manager who is respected by the players who work well as a unit. That concept is working well for us but we recognise we need to constantly improve. Likewise, I guess the other top performers share similar attributes and vision.

-------------------------------------The Strugglers--------------------------------------------
6 Ederney 9 4 5 0 130 147 8
7 Belcoo 9 3 5 1 120 133 7
8 Devenish 8 3 5 0 118 146 6
9 Maguiresbridge 9 2 7 0 123 146 4
10 Tempo 8 0 6 2 78 124 2
Looking at those teams below the benchmark, they seem to lack those attributes of the top performers so they appear to struggle and their focus is pushed towards a negative outlook as they goal is about avoiding potential relegation. Tempo seem to being going through a bad patch and will find it hard to stay in division one football. Some others like Ederney and Devenish have generally speaking been disappointing. Although, Devenish has been known previously to do better later in the season so that will be something to watch. Ederney, when Teemore played them, were poor and seemed to lack constructive or productive teamwork. I was very surprised as Ederney has quite a number of good and able players. Meanwhile, Belcoo and especially the Bridge team will have to believe more in themselves and they could chalk up enough points to make for an interesting playoff for relegation. I feel that these struggling teams need to invest in stronger management if they are to stay in the top level senior footie because if they fall through the trapdoor to division two it takes a lot, and I mean a hell of a lot, of rebuilding and motivation to get back up."
Thanks for the compliment. Yes I totally agree the stronger the management the better outcomes. Weak management make for poorer outcomes and lower team morale. The next round of the seniors will mark halfway in the league campaign for clubs and that will give us a better picture where teams stand. The one positive note this year is how the CCC has managed the fixtures more effectively and avoided the disaster of last season with up to a 3 month absence of league games.
This is how I expect round 10 to finish:
SFL 1 Rd 10
Ederney v Devenish (Devenish already have beaten Ederney in round 1, so I see them winning again)
Derrygonnelly v Erne Gaels (Erne Gaels already has beaten Derrygonnelly by 1 pt, so it could go either way)
Irvinestown v Roslea (Again Irvinestown previously beat Roslea so it's too close to call)
Tempo v Belcoo (Previous meeting was a draw but Tempo will want to gain their first win)
Maguiresbridge v Teemore (Teemore will be too strong for the Bridge)
SFL 2 Rd 10
Coa v St Patricks (Donagh win)
Lisnaskea v Belnaleck (Skea win)
Brookeboro v Enniskillen (Gaels win)
Kinawley v Newtownbutler (Kinawley win)
Aghadrumsee v Derrylin (A'see win)

Any ideas on how Irvinestown and Teemore have managed to do so well against the more established div 1 teams?

All credit to teemore and irvinestown to get where they are. They have both done very well. The thing is that many division one teams have dropped in quailty giving those teams a chance to grab points

When a club plays without their county men it is a major disadvantage, especially for Roslea and Derrygonnelly. Teemore beat the Harps but they were missing their main 4 players while Teemore only missing 1 so i wouldn't read too much into that result. Erne Gaels are going well but again they only have 1 main county man so will capitalis in the so call stared fixtures and i can see them beating the Harps easily next week. the championship is the big one. If the Quigley's are fit Roslea are a good outfit, but they seem to have lost alot of players out the field and have more average junior players replacing them. i dont think Erne Gaels have the mentality and experience to win a championship. Irvinstown and Maguiresbridge are blowing hot and cold. So im saying the Harps to win it again this year.

The top performers seem to be consistent and have establish their footing including a step up for Roslea. I would think Derrygonnelly look in prime position to be in a league final again this year.

At the bottom, there is movement in strugglers' camp with Belcoo advancing out of danger and promising too for Devenish too who I heard held Ederney to a draw after their core player was sent off. Tempo and the Bridge remain in trouble.
