New Underage structures

(Oldest Posts First)

Can anyone shed any light on how the underage sections will be structured this year? I've heard several contradicting whispers... are we looking at u17 u15 u13 and u11 it is there more ? We need a plan people and a diary to plan around

New underage structures .. same old inability to orga use them by youth board .. take the u15 league starting today .. will not if u are a div 3 team you wait N month and get just 6 league games .. pathetic .. and As for u11.5 league .. get ready for the rows all over the county as no refs are to be appointed with home team supplying the ref .. I mean have you seen an u10 match even ?? They are taken very seriously and I've seen a lot of trouble at these things that An independent ref would solve .. don't say I didn't warn ya lol

Great to see St Micks going well again and best of luck to them on Saturday in Pearse Park.

There has been good work goings into underage county teams over last 15 months, however recent results of the under 16/17 teams in Ulster leagues is worry and highlights how much work is needed.

Obviously the St Michaels players missing is a factor but the scorelines have been of a hammering level, which must be hard on the players.

I'll revive this old post as Ive just finished helping with several underage club teams this season and I want to lament about the pitifully small number of games given to underage teams. Under 15 div 3 started a month later than div 2 and 1 and there were only SIX league games for these teams. I mean how can you develop lads and bring their skills on when the season is soo short. I think pre-season u15 training lasted longer than the u15 league this year. Why not play home and away and make it 12 matches giving lads a cracking platform for development.
Then the u17 league arrives with 4 teams in a division and with 5 yes thats FIVE games played that league is over (one walk over included)
County board needs to sort this out, lads will walk away from GAA as there are so few games in a season. How do you compete with other sports offering 2 or 3 times the games in a season

So I say to Phil,,,give us games please lots of games as thats what its all about, weve got to set a minimum number of league fixtures at underage and I think 10 is a good number ...and if a league has 7 or 8 teams they get 12 or 14 fixtures not 6 or 7

anyway here endeth the lament
