Two brilliant semi finals, both 50/50s. Hopefully get a huge crowd into Athenry. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 131 - 14/10/2019 09:33:52 2243289 Link 0 |

Cappy v Mellows Both teams gave clinical performances in the quarter finals, Mellows were comfortable from start to finish over very poor Sarsfields team who are severely missing the cooneys . Cappy were made work a bit harder in the early stages but in the end had way too much for an ''over hyped'' Loughrea team and were able to see out the last 10 minutes in 2nd gear. Should be a cracker 3rd meeting in as many years. Both teams have lively forwards but I think cappys backs will prove too strong for mellows. Cappy to reverse the result of the last 2 years (+1) Turlough v Thomas Turlough looked comfortable throughout there QF win, Craughwell didn't prove up to much especially when they had to leave Niall Healy on for the majority of the game even though he was clearly carrying his hammer. Thomas were lucky to escape Athenry with the win, in truth Tommys deserved to win it due to there unreal work rate but Thomas showed all there experience by getting ahead in the closing minutes and seeing the game out. Hard to see Thomases playing as poor again but I think this Turlough team have enough experience & youth to finally push on and reach a co.final Turlough to get over the line in a tight affair (+3) hogget (Galway) - Posts: 60 - 17/10/2019 14:44:08 2244090 Link 0 |

Turloughmore haven't won a county final since the introduction of the wearing of helmets. The have taken a while to adjust to playing without their main tactic (cracking skulls) but are a strong outfit now with skilful players throughout. I reckon they will edge it again thomases and beat mellows in the final well. MountainSouth (Galway) - Posts: 34 - 21/10/2019 22:42:38 2244879 Link 0 |
Turlough have a good team no doubt. However they won't beat Thomas'. Theres a love for the blue and red in that parish that won't be beaten. They have, who I think we can all agree is the best club hurler Galway has ever seen in Eanna Burke too SomeBoy (Galway) - Posts: 6 - 22/10/2019 14:45:44 2244968 Link 0 |

Turlough very poor St.Thomas different class you could see it between the 2 teams thomas's movement and skill levels were far superior then Turlough's. Every year we year we hear people saying it's Turlough's year but yet again they have flopped no point winning all these feile's under 15's, minor and under 21 championships if ur not gonna translate it to senior level. I'm really starting 2 wonder as well if there is a serious mental block with Turlough winning the county title Maroonforever (Galway) - Posts: 381 - 27/10/2019 19:03:51 2246161 Link 0 |
Listening on gbfm it seemed Turlough missed a few easy chances for points, a missed penalty and a few other goal chances saved as well. Galwayspur (Offaly) - Posts: 183 - 28/10/2019 13:16:37 2246278 Link 0 |
To be honest they looked all over the shop tactically with very little game plan. No direct hurling. Sean Loftus and Sean Linnane in the full forward line for the first half. Physically out muscled around the middle and on the breaks. cowboysted (UK) - Posts: 107 - 28/10/2019 15:37:06 2246308 Link 0 |
Thomas were ruthless, Dathie burke was fouled repeatedly that said thurlough never got into the game. What now for thurlough? They have a lot of talent and with the right people ( new management) thurlough will /could bring the county cup back a few times to thurloughmore. ST Thomas will be favourite to retain the title but Mellows are no push overs. It amazes me leaving Athenry that everyone was saying Thomas's would be mellows handy. heartbroken (Galway) - Posts: 370 - 28/10/2019 18:22:11 2246328 Link 0 |
