Its fair to say conditions wernt conducive to good football with slippy handling conditions though for time of year was exciting affair. Second half Fermanagh faded, whether it was tiredness but Cavan dominated midfield and eventually clawed level. Last 7 minutes was comical with errors,Martin O Brien took his goal well after 3 Cavan mistakes, though Fermanagh returned the favour with the usual kamakze handpassing around own full backline. Not the first time we have gave away goals like this, must learned to get ball out of danger zone, play percentages ball if nothing on,have to learn this prior to NFL. The lack of ball and attacking threat in second half was very worrying, theres an over reliance on Sean Quigley there, thumping high ball into him isnt going to work every game, needs more help, while midfield issues highlighted that if Ryan Jones or Eoin Donnelly get injured during league we be in trouble At the end of the day though its still Mc Kenna cup and it has been beneficial competition in seeing new players and giving them confidence with some wins. Positives taken are the performances of Thomas Tracey,James Allen,Barry Mulrone,Decky Mc Cusker,Marty O Brien, Ruairi Corrigan, while Sean Quigley has continued his highly impressive form from last season. Bring on Louth! macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 902 - 22/01/2015 09:41:04 1685363 Link 0 |
Sad that Fermanagh were edged out by that last minute goal. Things could have been different if McGrath had to use as safer pair of hands in the nets as he did previously. IrvinestownMkII (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1384 - 22/01/2015 10:49:53 1685387 Link 0 |
id agree with that, although Tracey is in-experienced he deserved to be wearing the number 1 jersey last night! abitawit (Fermanagh) - Posts: 274 - 22/01/2015 12:02:50 1685421 Link 0 |
Come next Saturday in First league game against Louth id be sure Thomas Treacy be in goals, the fact Snow was in last night indicates that Mc Grath has seen enough of Treacy in previous games to give him the number 1 jersey(or so i hope) macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 902 - 22/01/2015 14:30:48 1685494 Link 0 |
The midfield issue last night was very simple. jimmy1 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 8 - 22/01/2015 15:27:07 1685519 Link 0 |
jimmy1 ask yourself why O'Callaghan was substituted? The answer is simply as he wasn't up to the job! A for goalies well Pete must be tearing his hair out today as he has seen his mistake. I see that Pete's philosophy is to introduce fresh legs more often now say compared with Canavan who was slow to make changes. We'll see how this new philosophy pans out in the league. As for macca's passion to see the first league game might turn sour if as reported that Louth have got much sharper now. erneboy (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1302 - 22/01/2015 17:29:08 1685591 Link 0 |
What happened Kelly. Was he brought on for O'Callaghan and then as a sub he got substituted. Was he having such a bad game? eamonkeown (Fermanagh) - Posts: 23 - 27/01/2015 15:36:44 1686972 Link 0 |
