ahhhh Long John My old Friend....Havent heard from you in a long time....seen you last sunday ya hoor ya...did anybody tell ya Rome wasnt built in a day?

If I was a member of the Ballygalget Squad I would be champing at the bit to get a go at loughuile, spouting off in the papers and on here about wanting to win the All-Ireland again, they havent even mentioned Ballygalget and obviously think its going to be a walk over.

I remember when the 2 teams met in the Ulster Minor Semi-final in 2000, Loughuile were expected to walk it but Ballygalget gave them a 7 point lesson. Okay it was minors and 13 years ago but there are still some of these lads playing on both teams. Hope Ballygalget show them no respect and go out and turn them over. As I said before Long John nice to hear from you again you old swine you :)

It'll be a long 60 minutes for the Ballygalget contingent, but sure there's nothing to lose, go out and give them a good rattle and then back to the club for a round or two...

Good luck to Ballygalget! After the weekends results (Bredagh & Kilclief both exiting the Ulster Club hurling championships), it would be great to see the Galgets beat the odds and make the final!

Good man turf - lets apply your logic to another scenario such as the all ireland u21 final, why did antrim get so animated about the venue - same circus different clowns my saffron amigo.

Down people are under no illusion that Loughgiel are favourites but to have one team and supporters travel 2 hours and the other, much stronger team and their supporters have to travel about 40 mins is hardly fair. Its also handier for other Antrim fans so you would have to ask about the logic of a Derry venue. Maybe if Loughgiel win and meet Slaughtneil in the final the match will be in Newry, seems the obvious venue going on this decision.

Surely you can see why other counties in Ulster are fed up with your whinging about everything.

Ballygalget and their fans (and some other Down hurling fans) will travel and give it a lash - they may not win but Loughgiel will know they had a match after its over. They will shake hands, head home, few drinks and back to work Monday morning - thats just the way it goes. Safe journeys to all who may be travelling on Sunday.

I'd say the ballygalget lads would happily toss for the game...a seven week camel ride to Owenbeg doesn't make any sense.

turfcutter, you lads stick to U-16b style hurling as witnessed in the glens at the weekend and we'll keep doing our best in the true spirit of the game.

Is this Owenbeg thing a Derry City of Culture thing or a great big Joke? Sure play it in Fermanagh and give Lisbellaw home advantage in the other semi-final.

I presume theres something on in the Armagh Morgan fuels buckfast athletic grounds.

Played in Owenbeg on Sunday past. Good surface for hurling if grass is cut. Was just a bit long on Sunday. Cold showers too, great reception for Ulster Hurling. I do agree that it is away out of the road for Ballygalget but ourselves and and Clooney Gaels (Ahoghill) are being dragged to Crossmaglen for our game too this week. Out of both teams road.

it would make sense to play your game in owenbeg instead of cross
