Some fellas no matter how many times you put the arm around them are simply not up for the commitment needed for intercounty football. I wish paddy tally all the best but it is tough job at present and we must realize that there has been no underage success for sometime. Time will tell guys...

Replying To Thekid14:  "Well said AnDunceanada.Aaron branningan from kilcoo tally should be camping in his back garden to get him on board"
To say we should be camping in anyones back garden is total nonsense, You might have been in the north pole this few years , because , not only was Aaron asked to join the squad his brothers were as well on more than a few occasions,
Don't get me wrong , Ilike many others would like to see them there, But to beg any man who dosent want to be there is a joke, In fact it wouldent even happen in Kilcoo club

They were asked but never were asked by tally?

See,The Sligo manager complaining about the Armagh ref..saying it's too close to Down.
Get a grip..obviously never heard of the rivalry.
Armagh still bring up 1961,Ulster final, did the ball cross the line.

This Game is massive for Down regarding were our league campaign will take us. If we win we will go above Westmeath and give ourselves a excellent chance of pushing on for promotion, defeat would leave us i would guess at best finishing mid table and being stuck in div 3 for next year.
After Sundays performance I'm expecting the lads to be on a high and push on and with the experience lads getting that game in as most were missing against Laois and the younger lads getting there first win i predict a home win by 3.

Down done well to get result tonight. The team is improving and they looked good attacking in the second half. We still struggle on kick outs and lack size in midfield area though. Paddy tally demonstrated he is not afraid make changes and if players are not producing the goods... your off as connaire harrison found out tonight. J Johnston replaced harrison and demonstatred good composure to slot over winning score... onwards and upward.

This game will decide where Down play there football next year, a win and Offaly And Louth to play at home then i think we will go up.
This will be a hard game for us but with those extra 2 weeks of training i fancy us to get over the line by a couple of points getting those few experienced lads back for this week will prove the difference.

Down have named a strong line up. A good mixture of youth and experience. Lets hope they continue on upward curve. Offaly will be tougher than people think....Down by 4.

An easy win for down tonight. Offaly ok first half but very poor second half.

Home for a family wedding and was able to get to my first game in a while last night. Some promising signs indeed especially with so many young players involved. Tally certainly seems to have a plan but I wouldn't be getting too carried away as I thought it was all in all an uneven performance. Building towards something at last though!

Some thoughts:

• Donal O' Hare is a class above up front, so accurate and never seems rushed.
• Thought Pierce Laverty had a very accomplished outing and is definitely one to watch
• The game seem to change with Connor Maginn's introduction (without him being overly dominant)
• Think they need to rethink their half forward. Don't think Poland offers much in that role on yesterday's viewing. Thought he was poor (that may be unfair I know based on a very small sample size)
• Darren O' Hagan is relentless. Some defender.
• Owen McCabe from Carryduff is amazing under the highball. Would love to see his overall game but wow.
• Ryan McAleenan was getting absolutely cleaned in the first half but adjustments were made at HT and the same problems weren't felt in the 2nd. Fair play to coaches and the players themselves
• Probably a stupid question but can someone let me know what the kick out rule the ref blew Burns (and the Offally keeper) for?

An Dun Abu and until next time
