Munster Intermediate Final 2012 Clare V Tipp

(Oldest Posts First)

Clare had a handy win against Waterford the last day but this game on Wednesday night will be much more difficult. Clare are rightly using this grade as a way to blood youth into the intercounty set up. Several Clare players who started against Waterford cant play this one including Tony Kelly as he played for the seniors since.

Some goood young players in the panel though and it is exciting to see how they fair. Intermediate might not be a strong level but a Munster is a Munster and it would be great to do the double. I would like to see the following start:

Flanagan McInerney Browne

Enda Boyce Cillian Duggan Haulie Vaughan

Bryan Donnellan Conor Ryan

Fergus Kennedy Peter Duggan Cathal O Connell

Davy O Halloran Ross Horan Mickey O Neill

Good amount of youth in that selection and with fantastic potential in players like Davy O H, Enda Boyce, Browne and Flanagan all bodes well for the future of the banner.

I dont know if tney will be picked or not, As far as I know the same management over the under 21s are over the intermediates which will ensure that focus can be maintained on the primary target - Munster under 21 championship.

I would like to see some fringe under 21s get a run like Browne, Vaughan but maybe a bit part for lads like Davy O H and Paul Flanagan would be best

Tipp are very strong at this level and the majority of their starting team will have All Ire medals at under 21 under their belts

I reckon we will give a good account of ourselves tonight but would be shocked if we managed to beat what looks a strong enough Tipp side. A number of them Tipp lads played in Tipp challenge match win over a second string Clare side in Clonlara back in April. Bookies look to have it about right.

Although you just never know and if these lads make a decent start and get on top they will be a tough side to pin down

Shame we couldnt have done the business but fair play Tipp. It was a very young intermediate team with 10 under 21s playing for Clare. At least we are making the finals and I hope to god now we can win the under 21 which in my eyes is the second best Munster title to win
