On the general point, the county board need to make this the last time something like this happens at any level or code. It calls into question the credibility of the competition.
If they're not relegating anyone, then have it clearly stated before the championship begins."
You are incorrect that one team was designated to go down, 2 were, that is a fact.

Castlegar were bet by Sylane and were relegated.

You are correct that the other game between Spiddal and Kilbeacanty was never played. I understand Spiddal wouldn't play due to their run in the Intermediate Football C'ship and ultimately had to concede the game. Spiddal had a great run in the football, dont know how far they went - provinicial or all ireland series

Agree re your point that no relegation must be stated before a championship starts & co board taking a harder line, since c. 2011/2012, both in senior and inter championships a number of clubs relegated/fighting relegation have not had to go down

Spiddal didn't concede the game though, that's the point. It was never played due to their involvement in the All-Ireland intermediate football championship. The county board then cancelled the fixture. They were not relegated at any stage.

Oh right. So the relegation was just scrapped then?? So teams now can just say they won't or can't play a relegation game and they can stay up. Very difficult to keep the 2 codes going but that's not a valid reason. Why was it brought up at a hurling board meeting last year asking for Spiddal to remain intermediate and then Castlegar said they would stay up too?

"wouldn't" is incorrect here. Spiddal were always willing to play the relegation match but the fact that it was fixed for 6 days after their involvement in a run of games which meant they had played in 15 out of the previous 16 weekends was the issue. Hurling board then just cancelled the match. no one was relegated and everyone was happy.

Commonsense by name not by nature it seems.

Exactly. Spiddal would have happily played the match if it had been fixed properly.
It was actually the cancelling of other games involving other teams in late 2018 that delayed the Spiddal-Kilbeacanty match in the first place.
After that, it clashed with their extended run in the football championship.
It then ran well into 2019 and the county board cancelled it entirely. I just want to repeat that Spiddal never conceded the match.
I think we all agree on the general issue. The situation which has just occurred with Kiltormer needs to be the last time it ever happens. If a team is relegated based on the rules outlined at the start of the championship, they go down.

Does anyone know when the draws will be made for Junior and Intermidiate?
