I'm certainly not running any team down, good luck to all the winners in the national finals - I was told by a Portaferry member they were favourites for Division 1 so this individual (involved in club coaching) obviously overestimated their ability

God lads its kids we are talking about here, each bunch of kids did their best maybe some didnt perform to expectations but they certainly didnt do it on purpose.

I'm sure all the teams involved will take lessons from the weekend which alongside the enjoyment is the main thing....good luck to all teams representing Down at National Feile

Maybe your right Tim the ports could/should have been favourites 4 division 1 after their victory last night. They could / should have won by more.

I went to watch two local U14 teams play last night and was very impressed with the talent on display. It was end to end stuff and very, very entertaining. Ports seemed to be that little bit stronger and took their goals when needed. Have to congratulate the mentors of both clubs for turning out two very competitive teams. It can only boost the future of hurling in this rural area.

Good win OK, was it by 3.01? This should give the young ports a good boost afore the national Feile.

I know you mean well, but in fairness to both Portaferry and Ballygalget they try to compete at the highest level year in year out and there's probably little room for boosting (granted the Ports have a bigger population and could be doing a bit more).

Its the other clubs who drop in and drop out of hurling when there's a good team on the go and then nothing for during their lean years that need to take a hard look at themselves.

We're sorting out our issues and will start competing well shortly.

So Bredagh, Portaferry, Newry & Ballyvarlery (that correct?) are the Down representatives in the Feile. Does anyone have a list of the fixtures/dates for this?
Its in two weeks time is it?

Newry arent at National Feile although themselves and Ballycran are representing Down at an ulster/regional feile the same weekend......no other details on that yet.

OK I could have said the skill level of the majority of the young Portaferry players far out shone the Ballygalet players in all areas of the field, and if it wasn't for some Portaferry way ward shooting they would have hammered Ballygalget by more! Does that suit Bricktop? I can't see where Portaferry can do "a bit more" they are joint top of the league at the moment, going to the national Feile and without going out and kidnapping some 14 year olds they can't improve the squad.
Getting back to some sense well done both teams and both sets of mentors.

Ports first match at 4.30pm v Lorrha Rovers, (Tipperary). Second match at 5.30pm v Clooney Gaels, (Antrim). I thinks theres a website that gives the results. Good luck to all 3 Down clubs.

Well done to all the Down teams at weekend....looks like Bredagh battled hard against tough opposition in Div 2 while the young Ports did well to reach the shield semi final in Duv 4 were they lost narrowly.....seems Ballygalget camogs did well also to reach semi final.....not sure how Ballyvarley did but sure they acquitted themselves well also.

Also yesterday Ballycran and Shamrocks played in the Ulster Feile final for teams that didn't make the National finals, both teams emerged from their groups unbeaten before playing out a ding dong battle in the final with scores being level at half time 3-2 to 3-2 before Ballycran got a crucial goal in the last couple of minutes to win 4-5 to 3-5.....great game with Crans having just a slightly better spread of forwards which proved the difference in the end.
