USHC 2013 FINAL.....BEING PLAYED 2ND FEB 2014!!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Can't believe All ireland campions Down are being treated with this lack of respect. I was reading in the paper today that Mc vinney the preseident of the ulster council launched a staunch defence of the "promotion" of hurling????? They should defend themselves by actions and not by cheap words which we all know are never backed up. tis sad to see the game being taken apart in Down as this ould be a real growth year spurred on by winning a great trophy last year and hopefully getting more young people to play the game as they have a genuine chance of winnng something. wishing Down hurling all the best for 2014 despite all the people in yeer own county and province who wish ye ill

So Sunday up in Derry city it is then!

Croke park must have intervened and asked the Leinster council not to make a fuss as the Ulster football council have embarrassed the association enough!!

Bricktop you are spot on, perhaps your big mate can get you a spot on the county board and knock some sense into those football heeds.

I heard that on the radio yesterday and thought it was a joke, what about 'player welfare' and all that bull coming out of Croke Park?

The players are in Newbridge on Saturday afternoon, no short journey and then to Derry City the following day, another 2 plus hours on a bus and its not as if we've a big squad to ensure players won't be playing two days on the bounce, I'm sure James McCartan wouldn't let it happen to the footballers.

disgrace.

I just hope some of the players don't get injured in this mess.

Is it free in up at Celtic park?

Down chairman Seamus Walsh added: "We have to go with the hand which we have been dealt." if he or the co boord had any respect for the players they wouldny let this have progressed.

Yeah, sounds like the County Board didn't put up much resistance.

Well done Ulster council got what u wanted an Antrim win,
Down played a hard match on Saturday in terrible conditions
and had people injured yet you expected them to play again on
Sunday,so much for players welfare and promoting hurling but
hey you got a massive(lol) crowd anyway to watch your meaningless match well done.

Anyone who went to Derry yesterday either deserves the utmost praise or may be in need of a padded cell - not sure which yet anyway best of luck to James Coyle and Gareth Johnston and hope the injuries are not as bad as feared

Just reading the Irish News report and slightly disappointed on the managers comments about some club coaches.
I agree he is right to a point but what if there are no takers coming forward to take the young boys and girls in the clubs especially "real" hurler who are going to take the kids.

Surely the county and each club should be taking steps to overcome this and have interested parents and guardians to assist with other tasks required with each team or within the club itself

Happened upon a match report for the 2013 Ulster final on Ulstergaa.ie and shockingly enough there's no mention of the fact Down hurlers played a game the day before.

They're rightly embarrassed by their ineptitude and didn't put it in print..
