Yes I heard that too. Pitches in Portaferry not playable apparently. :( Frank Mitchell (Down) - Posts: 1075 - 05/04/2018 11:18:17 2091215 Link 0 |

Kilclief was lined up in case the lower pitch was unplayable. After the rain on Monday & Tuesday virtually every pitch in the county was flooded including he top pitch & Kilclief. The schools are closed for Easter so there pitches couldn't be booked, if playable. There were lads on the phones all day yesterday trying to get somewhere an checkin with Croke Park when we need to get the names to them for the skills. In the end there was no option but to postpone Seannie Og (Down) - Posts: 947 - 05/04/2018 13:02:32 2091231 Link 0 |
Need to have a serious rethink about Feile as this is maybe 3-4 th time in last few years the date has had to be moved.......winter/spring is just becoming wetter and wetter , little chance that will change in coming years.....3G pitches hosting Feile into the future could be the only option or else waiting until end of April before playing......not host clubs fault but weather has been terrible PaudieSull1 (Down) - Posts: 726 - 05/04/2018 18:33:54 2091307 Link 0 |
I am sure a new slot will be sorted over the next 2/3 weeks..not much we can do about the awful weather that has hit us over the past number of weeks. THEMOLE2 (Down) - Posts: 1615 - 06/04/2018 09:10:30 2091347 Link 0 |
I'm in agreement to postpone and I think everything was done to try and get it played but the weather has been constant rain for the last while. All fixtures are up in the air now. Minors cancelled as well the other night. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2477 - 06/04/2018 09:11:54 2091348 Link 0 |
I think the feile should be played as s championship full games in the weeks from start of April it's to much of lottery for 7mins ew ianog (Down) - Posts: 415 - 08/04/2018 20:07:10 2091700 Link 0 |
Don't agree. Tournament style gets it over and done with in the one day now rather than drag it out. Impacts on other teams if its prolonged. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2477 - 09/04/2018 12:13:12 2091817 Link 0 |
That's the problem just get it out the way it's a big competition for the young lads but slowly dying a adeath

Totally agree, used to be played 2 semi-finals one week and final folliowing week, full 60 mins. The crowds were always big with whole club and parents attending.

When was this? It was always tournament based, albeit I remember games on the Saturday with the final on the Sunday, but never 60 minutes... bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2477 - 10/04/2018 16:04:48 2092144 Link 0 |
Before you were invented young fella - look back to 70s and 80s.

I'll have to take your word on the 70's, but in the 80's it was by and large played over a weekend in Castlewellan. semi-finals on a Saturday with a day of finals on a Sunday and they were not 60 minute games. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2477 - 11/04/2018 10:32:09 2092295 Link 0 |
Any word on date and venue...anyone heard anything? THEMOLE2 (Down) - Posts: 1615 - 11/04/2018 13:29:59 2092355 Link 0 |
1981 was last year of the sensible Feile, hurling is a 60 min game were the strongest, best representative usually goes forward - not these 7 min lottery games of nowadays were a fluke could send a good team home and rubbish to National Feile.
