Why exactly do you think we are a top hurling county by the way? Is it the 1 Senior AI we have won since I was born in 1971? Or the 1 League we won 51 years ago? Oh wait it's because we haven't won any underage AIs in that time. Of course its Ray Harris fault as he got appointed in 2020. And it's nothing to do with the pathetic lack of interest at grassroots level, underage teams at many clubs having to cancel training sessions on account of lack of coaches on the night at many clubs. Many clubs only training once a week for the same reason. Numerous county board sponsored coaching courses not fully attended because people aren't interested in improving their coaching skills even when the Board are paying for them to do so if they wanted. Wexford are not a top hurling county and haven't been in well over 50 years. And that's not the Boards fault. It's not the Board appointed coaching staffs fault. It's the fault of many in the county who would prefer to talk ##### about Wexford hurling rather than actually do anything about improving it. stop with the essays and the rubbish seriously involved in club hurling for all my life and just so frustrating looking at the waste in wexford park and ferns total rethink needed, line in the stand and let's get development structure right professional approach needed and if that is new faces in wexford gaa coaching office so be it, this has to be a results based business and not a job for the boys seriously there is no argument if all results are put on the table over the last ten years it not 30 wexfordminor92 (Wexford) - Posts: 75 - 20/04/2024 19:45:35 2539305 Link 0 |

I get no satisfaction from wexford losing at any level, be that hurling camogie or football we have the tradition numbers and talent but no structure, I would not post but your rubbish is so annoying wexfordminor92 (Wexford) - Posts: 75 - 20/04/2024 20:01:22 2539315 Link 0 |
C'mon, you watched the game didn't you. I'm not saying they didn't try as hard as they could but they were outplayed by a decent enough Dublin team. Their touch was way off, misplacing simple passes even when they weren't under pressure, loosing the majority of rucks, decision making at times was very poor. This is a pattern I've seen with a lot of our underage sides in the last decade. You would have to question is the coaching there getting up to standard. This is not a go at any person who gives up their time to coach young lads but someone who's a lot closer to the scene then I am has told me he's very concerned about the level of coaching within the county. It's okay to question things Viking. If we go along and say everything is flying when it's clearly not, we'd be at nothing.

Right so offered not a single opinion all week on the Senior game tomorrow and now your leeching onto a group of lads aged 15-17 losing a round robin game because you've a few axes to grind.

We've been losing to Dublin fairly often all millennium at minor. They have 6 Leinster minor titles to our one. And also at Senior too, we have only beaten them once in the last 15 years. What gives us the right to expect to beat them now?

We haven't been good at underage for more than 10 years. Our schools haven't been good in that time either. Our clubs have only won one Senior AI ever. I'm doing my best- putting dozens of hours every week into the club on and off the pitch. There are plenty who are doing #### all.

Hardly injured when they are on the bench. You seem to be the one with an agenda.

This team are the 1st that have come up through the grades to reach minor since Ray Harris was appointed. If in another year or 2 things aren't improving then you will be proven right. All you are proving at this stage is that you are a man with an agenda. Like you were hoping for a defeat. Hardly the passionate Wexford supporter you claim to be. If what is there isn't the right structure then what do you propose to replace it with? If you are as involved as you say you are involved with underage coaching at club level all your life you will know what I'm saying is true about the general standard of underage coaching, and how few people are getting involved these days.

We have the tradition but tradition wins you #### all. Past reputations are exactly what they say they are- in the past.

I'm questioning these very things at Board level. I think our underage coaching is chronic at club level in many clubs around the county that I've come across in the last few years. 1 training session a week at a dual club means 2 hurling training sessions a month. How anyone can seriously expect us to produce the same number of top young hurlers at u14 as counties whose lads are all getting 8 hurling training sessions a month from u8 upwards is actually unbelievable. And there have been a good few coaching sessions for club coaches delivered by top coaches that I went on and the attendance at these hasn't been amazing either. All had plenty of spaces for more lads to attend. Our county u14s and u15s only get together once a week on the pitch. They have far more coaching at school and club level. And the way we are we are at grassroots we are actually over achieving to have minor and u20 teams in tier one competitions at all. God help us for what coming down the line next Saturday when kk come to town. I actually taught this minor team wasn't to bad and have done alright against munster opposition in practise matches but I suppose it only practise matches. We have seen nothing from our minor, under 19 or 20 teams this year.really concerning and worrying for the further hunting (Wexford) - Posts: 1083 - 20/04/2024 21:25:52 2539373 Link 0 |
100 pages on this forum and not one going to make Wexford any better as a hurly county. Maybe should follow Kilkenny's lead, basically no forum but 36 All Ireland's and the only Leinster county with a really chance of winning All Ireland, action sometimes counts than words. Probably get my head ripped off for this post, but feels like we going round in circles, with no sign of everything improving. Jedobi (Wexford) - Posts: 212 - 20/04/2024 21:27:49 2539375 Link 0 |
Galway beat everyone except Clare by double digit scores last year. They had an exceptional minor team. They beat Kilkenny in the Leinster final by 12 points, and beat Cork by 14 points in the AIMSF.

The u19s were never going to be competitive. There was no gear or food even provided for them so many didn't commit. A good few on the Peters team who beat Kierans yesterday in the Leinster A League final were selected but chose not go.
