Replying To ExiledInWex:  "I can 100% verify this is the case.
Imagine, a bus load of children from Dublin, where they are trying to promote the game, being told no groups.
Clubs are getting parents to buy tickets for their children I heard. But again, its putting an obstacle in the way where there should not be one."
It's shocking they couldn't do some sort of deal, especially as the ground will likely only be half full.

Replying To Afinestick96:  "Exactly the questions dont have to discuss anything like tactics etc. Im thinking just short interviews on social media with questions like what is your favourite pre match meal , Toughest opponent , best sporting memory etc. Its sad I would say the vast majority of kids in the county would have no idea what the likes Rory O Connor, Liam Ryan etc even look like where as they all would know a lot of the Premier league players and Irish rugby players. We need to be better at marketing our game to the future generation and a lot of that be done through social media"
My daughter went to the Cork game with her friends. Some lad spent 15 minutes trying to convince her Damien Reck was Chinner. He eventually went to buy a programme and was raging.

She recognised him by his run because she was reared with the hurlers

Replying To ExiledInWex:  "Its a GAA wide problem.
If my young lads walked past Liam Ryan or Diarmuid O'Keefe or Patrick Horgan on the street they might not know them, yet a couple of years ago in A Question of Sport they could recognise so many in that "Faces" round despite some of them even being golfers who always have a cap on. A few years ago they got their picture taken with footballer Andros Townsend in Portugal on holidays, recognised him straight away.
The amount of rubbish in the GAA associated with media bans, "that'll be pinned on the dressing room wall", is nothing short of nonsense. Anybody who thinks a team who needs motivation of a newspaper article should think about how much players are putting in to these games. They need no motivation!
While the effort of Wexford GAA is not to be disrespected, no disrespect to Ned Buggy or Mick Butler but children look to current players for their snapchat and instagram clips. They want flashy, trendy videos and the most marketable GAA player in the country (Lee Chin) is made for it. But then, if he hurled bad it would be "he is busy making videos" as if it had any impact!
Players have jobs etc is one thing but even championship launches are boring and pointless.
I know Leinster La Rochelle are playing on Saturday because it has been everywhere on the radio, and I am going to it on the back of that. You would not know the Wexford football team are in a Leinster quarter final on Sunday."
It all boils down to the GAA suffocating in its own self-importance over the last decade or so. Media bans, players meant to be robotic in their on field instructions and cannot take risks, those same players flogged with too much training and no proper off-season, the ordinary club player even not allowed a social life anymore. Time-wasting (sorry clock management), feigning injury, fist pumping at opponents after a turnover of possession, basically importing the cynical/annoying aspects of other sports.

All way too serious now and not as innocent, hence enjoyable.

There is literally no amateur sport like it in the world, and that's not neccesarily a good thing.

A Cork lad or a Wexican?

I mean Chin is literally the most recognisable lad on the team, I can't believe someone would get him mixed up with Damien Reck. That's fairly shocking.

I'd say even Cork hurling fans would know what Lee Chin looks like!

To be fair, with the helmets it can be easy to mistake players, or be unsure of who they are. Especially if you are not that familiar with the team.

Could be form, taught we got nothing out of our FF line against KK, hopefully he'll rediscover it, he's got plenty of ability.

A lad from st Anne's believe it or not.

To be fair the weather wasn't great and the lad probably assumed he was our most influential player given he was having a good game by comparison to his teammates that day.

No doubt Chin is generally fairly easy to recognise. Even his physique is unique.

What would be our strongest u20 team? I see Eoin Whelan is starting. Is Cian Doyle out for the year? he is a very good talent. Have we many more to come back in for the knockout games?

Cian Doyle is out for the year seemingly. Unfortunately.

Better shape. Bright start. Built a lead. Then the workrate dropped. Some lads walking around the pitch. Poor shot selection. Not enough pressure on the ball. Not enough running of the shoulder. Hopefully management give them a shake.

Draw game, couldn't be at it but I was following along on Twitter? Seems like the ref was very whistle happy. Am I right in saying Laois only scored 3 points from play? All the years they've had a presence on Twitter I've never seen them complain about the ref. Must have been some seriously controversial decisions.

Wasn't watching the match so can't definitively comment but I don't think I can ever recall a team scoring 0-18 but only two points from play

Why were we fouling that much if they weren't doing anything from play? Or was there more to it than that?

Laois 2 points from play. 16 frees. We made some very poor decisions on the ball.

Full back line impressive. I think we still make 1/4 finals.

Some improvement needed tho. 2 really poor performances to date.

We were poor enough. Set up was alot better though. Whelan made some difference at the back, he was injured the last day, he's our best player at this grade. We didn't look like conceding a goal. Lads kept carrying into traffic and getting turned over, or made bad loopy handpasses that were easy intercepted. Workrate needs to be upped, the inside forwards need to make more runs out into space, still not sure Roche is ideal at 11, although he was excellent at the frees . Its a problem this year we don't have as many forwards as we did the last 2 years. Tackling needs to improve also, as does tracking runners. Several times our lads didn't bother running after their man when he passed them. Molloy and Wickham did OK for 2 backs playing inside forwards, Cillian Byrne was maybe wasted a little at wing forward.

They were running at us. Our lads need to track runners better, and tackle better. We had around 10 lads on the pitch who are backs with their clubs, you'd expect tackling and tracking back to be better.
