That's not good news

Challenge games never have the same intensity as championship ones though. Lads always have it in mind that they don't want to get injured.

My panel for the Dublin game presuming Jippo and Dee are unavailable. TerribleFootwork (Wexford) - Posts: 1760 - 08/04/2024 14:06:23 2536597 Link 1 |
Thats a very good bench we have now if all those lads are available. Is Jippo definitely out? Wouldnt be risking anyone if not near 100% fit. Although Dublin game is huge still 4 games to play after it

Talking to one of the players at the shop last night. They played waterford yesterday and lost by 3 points, but all 30 something in the panel seen game time over 3 x 30 minutes halves. Only injury concern at present is Liam Ryan who is a doubt for the Dublin game. hunting (Wexford) - Posts: 1069 - 08/04/2024 16:49:17 2536663 Link 0 |
Good to hear. Wouldnt be too worried by the result actually think Waterford could surprise Cork in the first round. Is Dee definitely out or were those just rumours?

I heard a couple of weeks ago Dee wouldn't be ready for the start of championship but not ruled out of the whole campaign, if a team gets well beaten in a practice game I'd take note of it but not really a close game, agree on Waterford could spring a surprise in championship didn't lose any league game by more than 3, I think the apathy from the supporters is a much about the style of play as it is results.

We played Jippo against Dublin last year and he wasn't right. Damien Reck shouldn't have played either.

I'd say that apathy isn't helped by their championship form in general since the Round Robins came back. They have been very pessimistic the last couple of years before a ball was even pucked.

Congrats to the footballers last weekend. They have being progressing all year and unlucky to miss out on promotions. Slowandshortsighted (UK) - Posts: 41 - 09/04/2024 22:03:56 2537011 Link 0 |
Interesting interview with Rossi on the Wexford Hurling Podcast. He is happy with how preparations have went . They had a productive training weekend in Portlaoise over Easter. On the injury front it seems like we hopefully will have everyone back bar Jippo and DOK who will return later in the championship. I would go with the following team v Dublin Afinestick96 (Wexford) - Posts: 455 - 10/04/2024 10:01:49 2537061 Link 0 |
It's great to see a panel taking shape. I'm surprised how many see fanning as our number 1 still. Very much looking forward to Sunday week now. This gap is long enough and I'm full of anticipation. Hopefully we can bring a cohesive performance with loads of guts. If we deliver a performance we'll be right there at the end. Fingers crossed we get a result and a good start. Momentum will be huge before the visit of Galway too. I'm hopeful, but there's no gimmies as we've seen the last two years. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3424 - 10/04/2024 11:42:26 2537085 Link 0 |
Fanning started every league game, its obvious management see him as 1st choice at the moment.

Could anyone see us beating Galway in the third round? Feel they are extremely hard to predict this year, we probably should've bet them in 22 and in 19 missed goal chances those days I think, and as poor as we were last year I think if we had Chin we could have pulled it off in Salthill. OpenStandWall (Wexford) - Posts: 208 - 10/04/2024 12:32:07 2537106 Link 0 |
Firstly we should be focusing on Dublin and Antrim and trying to get 4 points there before thinking about Galway, if we're on our game that day I think we're capable of beating Galway but ourselves and Galway both have an issue when it comes to consistency.

Its not how it should be. The GAA needs to start promoting these games better. Only those of us who know about these matches, will know about it. I never understand why Wexford GAA don't promote the championship better. Hardly anything on social media about the upcoming championship. Not a billboard in sight on the main roads. Nothing in the schools about it. How are people supposed to buy tickets if they don't promote these games better? There will be 8-10 thousand in Wexford Park on Sunday week because the GAA is no good at promoting their main asset - the championship. I'm certain if we had of had Chin and Reck playing in Salthill we would've won.

In fairness to Fanning he's been very good so far this year.
