Can't decide on the harriers lads.

Will miss Richie Lawlor big time.

Could get to a semi final or be relegate.

Looking forward to some insight tonight

Still plenty of talent in that team, I'd be surprised if there in the relegation picture although I do think there in the tougher group.

The problem is obvious. Wexford GAA would be far better for a whole variety of reasons to go back to alternative weeks, but every club probably sees it as better for them to be in the current blocks

What are these reasons? Better for who? The players and clubs prefer the current set up. As a fan I'd be going to most if not all of our clubs games so its immaterial which comes first or if they go alternately.
Hurling 1st is a disadvantage for our hurling clubs in Leinster but its an advantage for our football champions. But noone wanted to have the hurling second seemingly.

Right game here. Bartown a point up at half time with a strong wind.

David Clarke is everywhere. John lacey flying.

Luke Murphy, Clancy and obviously chinner the standouts for the harriers.

Great bite to it as well.

Mark fanning has about 5 wides

17 each. Fair result

Two draws to start the senior championship would have been a nice double, Harriers will be disappointed I'd say they expected to win that one, Oulart game seemed to have an exciting finish anybody at either?

Spending the weekend in Rosslare so popped over to watch Oulart game. Standard was poor to be honest with the two Foleys and Shaun Murphy the standout players.

Oisin Foley was the best player on the pitch scoring two good goals.

Neither team will be a threat to top four.

Harriers left it behind to be honest but ultimately too patchy to win it.

Had a good shout for a penalty that wasn't given. Chin had a point overruled by the ref too.

Barntown had a goal disallowed for a throw late on.

A draw was a fair result.

Very much a game of two halves. Lovely and sunny then a monsoon in the second half changed things a lot.

One concern for us is the half back line. Richie Kehoe legs are gone. Jim berry's best days quite a way behind him too.

Darby Purcell, Luke Murphy and Conal Clancy are proper players though.

Josh Sheil didn't have his best day.

For Barntown David Clarke was superb. John lacey is unreal (shame he never got into wexford senior set up) he was one of the best underage prospects we ever had.

Cormac Cooney looks a serious operator too. Not sure what age he is.

Darragh carley didn't have much influence for a lad who's as capable as he is.

I didn't see Darragh Egan there.

Derek McGrath is a live wire on the line.

Of course it would.

But clubs feel like they are getting one over on other clubs who concentrate on one code even if it is to an overall detriment. We are now in a situation where it's game fold by recovery followed by game, very title training done, no opportunity for a fella breaking through to work his way into a team.

Shaun Murphy picked up a hamstring injury last night, simple enough injury, if we have alternate weeks ands it's a 2 week timeframe he misses one game now it's double, worse again if it's a little more severe, possibly misses the bulk of the group stages, but hey as long as those great hurling clubs like rathnure and oulart are being inconvenienced a bit.

The fella who hurls only is hampered by this system and as for the chap who plays football only, he might as well give up which some are. Alternate weeks or two week blocks suits all, so what if a club get in an extra training session or two in either code compared to others? is that not what we bloody well want and need to develop our players? And anyone it's up to each club to prioritise what's best for them.

People moan about is not developing enough quality players, how can we in this system and then rail again changing it becaus they think they have a bit of an advantage, we need to start deciding what's best for gaa in Wexford overall imho.

In the park last night, very tight game, thought the Harriers had enough chances to win it in the last 7 or 8 mins to win it had they not went for goals!!! Chin, Darby and Luke Murphy had handy point chances to get the harriers over the line!!! Even in the last play of the game Mallon had won a ball in the corner and he had to pass it out to Kehoe who had a free shot to win it but he went for the spectacular over the shoulder and was half blocked!!! Chin was very good although Clarke made it very difficult for him and tried his best!!! Murphy looked dangerous at times, Darby needs to sharpen up and will improve I'd say!!! I was very disappointed with the two county men in Clancy and scallon in midfield, Clancy showed flashes but was out of the game for very long periods, scallon wasn't in it at all!! In defence for harriers I thought mulligan won his battle and it looked to me Richie kehoe had a man marking job on lacey and a fine job he did, lacey wasn't in the game at all bar his free taking which he was good at!!! Jim berry was under alot of pressure wing back!!! Barntown down a few key players aswell as harriers had a purple patch in second he half when they went 3 up and looked like it was goin there way but harriers got it back to go 2 up then!!! The Cooney's played very well and Clarke did the best he could!! Carley played well also!!! Mark fanning was good in the goal also, both teams probably happy with the point and will improve for the game!!! I seen colm heffernan come off with injury also I see Murphy of oulart gone off to and the crossabeg captain of injured,i hope they are not season ending injuries!!! Roll on today and tomorrow for more great games

I thought David Clarke really improved over the League and Walsh Cup this year. He has every reason to be flying. He's fighting for an Intercounty place.

Reads like we were at two different games. I thought Richie got destroyed and lacey was the standout for barntown.

How do you reckon fanning played well? Genuinely curious. Didn't have a save to make and drove a load of wides in the first half

Good to hear about Foley.

He's improved massively in the past 2 seasons and we missed him with wexford when he wasn't fit

Strange I thought chin gave clarke a runaround in the first half but definitely less of an influence in the second half. Disagree with doyler about Clancy. Although he scored 2 points he was anonymous for large parts of the game as was Kyle scallan. Thought Alex lynch was very good for the harriers.
Credit to both teams though for an enjoyable game particularly the second half in difficult conditions. Nip and tuck to the end and neither team deserved to lose. Credit to the ref as well. He let both teams go at it and frees were hard won which added to the game

Darragh Egan was in the park last night, Sean Cooney introduced at half time did really well too. I think Carley was carrying a injury, had strapping on his calf.

Cormac Cooneys disallowed goal late on was very harsh. Looking at it live and on a recording it very much looks like he flicked it into the net.
Sean Cooney outstanding when he came on 2nd half.
Luke could have won it at the end but very similar to Rapps last year went for a goal instead of an easy pt.
Chin Immense but Clarke did as well as anyone could on him.
GB will be the happier. 6 players 1st Senior championship match.

If it was someone like Matthew O Hanlon or Mogie who got injured they would be missing just as many important club games regardless of whether the system is split season or alternate weeks. Why highlight the situation a player in a small minority of Wexford GAA players, i.e. one code players, faces now?
If we do as you say more dual clubs will concentrate on hurling. And the standard of football will fall even further in the county. How will that be good for Wexford GAA either?
