We are nearly at the start of another year so how are the clubs preparations going coming into it? My 4 choices for Senior and Intermediate Semi finalists, obviously dependent on the QF draw- Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 20706 - 06/06/2023 08:15:02 2484266 Link 0 |

Alot of lads away travelling this year so that will likely be a factor, think the Harriers could be a dark horse, improved alot as last year's championship went on, Intermediate looks very open, aside from those 4 you mention I'd imagine the Alley and Bunclody will be in the mix too, few clubs will be cursing this u18 decoupling, Fethard and Duffry come to mind with Cillian Byrne and Dylan Purcell.

Senior: Think Martin's look best. They came within a puck of the ball in last year's final without jacko and Rory. After that there's very little to separate a lot of teams. Also think the harriers will go close. Intermediate : bunclody . Saw them earlier in the year and was impressed with them HurlingBuzz (Wexford) - Posts: 556 - 06/06/2023 11:02:34 2484320 Link 0 |

Agree regards the Martins but they don't always hold the favorites tag well, Intermediate I'd probably have the Alley and Cloughbawn as frontrunners and for Intermediate A Liam Mellows and Cushinstown.

I think Horeswood could be dark horses also. Don't think many teams will be significantly affected by top lads travelling, aside from Crossabeg missing Paudie Foley.

And definitely agree Cushinstown and Castletown are the 2 2 beat.

Glynn have lost Rowan White, Matt Doyle, Shane Wilde to travelling and Michael and Brendan Doyle retired. Shels Jody Donohoe and Arnie Murphy, Fethard Joe Sutton and Bryan Power lads travelling too.

Someone in Crossabeg said Paudie will be home for club championship then him and Oisin are travelling for a year.

Rowan White is a big loss didn't know he'd gone travelling. Fethard still have their best players and an excellent team the lads who are gone won't weaken them much. Shels likewise.

That would be good for Crossabeg. Are the Devereuxs home too?

Oisin would be a big loss for wexford if true. We need Paudie back too but cant begrudge young lads the chance to travel

Oisin only was approaching full fitness for the Kilkenny game where he played really well. He was fighting a bad back all year up to that.

Seen 1 of the Martins players giving out on Twitter that the hurling league final been fixed for 3 on Sunday clashing with the 2 provincial finals, he's dead right too. TerribleFootwork (Wexford) - Posts: 1760 - 07/06/2023 15:49:47 2484783 Link 0 |

It's the usual lack of foresight- whatever about not fixing it on the same day of the Tailteann match, they definitely had wiggle room for either Friday night, Sunday noon or after the Leinster final Sunday. No excuse now with the long evenings.

Exactly and no need for a double header with the football at 5 either which would have created more wiggle room, could have 1 of the games in Patricks Park, Oilgate or Farmleigh, I'd say outside of the 4 clubs involved little or nobody will go with the 2 big names on the TV and most people will only go to 1 half of the double header involving there own club.

Senior - One of the groups looks very tough and I would have St martins and Gorey to top 2 and any of the harriers, Anne's, oylegate and Glynn for the other two quarter final spots. In the other group Shels and Ferns and depending on what rapps team turn up they should make the knockout stages. Any of rathnure crossabeg or oulart could take the other spot. Martins or naomh eanna to give a walkover would be whats needed to prevent this happening again.

I'm not down home as much as I like but hopefully the cushinstown lads give intermediate a good rattle this year. Danny Martin is a big loss on his travels. Hopefully with porter back fit hopefully we can get to at least a county final Wexfordgaa (Wexford) - Posts: 396 - 09/06/2023 09:25:08 2485070 Link 0 |
