I don't think they would no. Horrendous oversight.

Ya i got a bit carried away saying a stone wall yellow card. In real time i can see how people might have been upset at that call. I think the ref could have and probably should of left the cards in the pocket for that one

Big win for oylegate yesterday. Harriers put themselves in a position to win the game but Podge struck a goal late on to secure a vital two point. Martins very impressive by all accounts if they have everyone fit they will take some stopping

Ref is second game in Wex Pk yesterday evening didn't know the rules. Had to ask umpires regards the infringement for throwing a hurl. Same official doesn't regulate the black card in football correctly. How do such officials get such high profile matches. Same with ref in Oylgate game last week. It must infuriate players.

I guarantee the "its terrible to have these games in the bad weather" line will be thrown out.

So many players are lost to the game from minor to u20. A lot of players don't want to play adult when they are 18 but still want to play on. The focus of this age group at club level should be about keeping players playing the game and thats not going to happen if the games are played in November. Clubs have to decide whats the most important aspect is for them - keeping players playing longer or winning u20. Where is the attraction to a 18yr old who will never be first team material and he knows it, to go out and play hurling in November. If you put these game on in November its effectively saying we don't need you to players like that. Exact same problem with football - playing in December is a disgrace. The U20 hurling could have been started before the senior to allow the football to get finished before third level is back

Replying To TerribleFootwork:  "Ferns seem to have 21 players their picking from, used the same 20 pretty much every game last year plus Gavin Bailey back fit this year, I'd split them in 3 age brackets, 6 of them 36 or older who owe their club nothing, 7 aged between 27-33 and 8 aged 20-24, the emergence of that younger cohort around 2018/19 has been vital as they seemed to be slipping back around 2015-17 ending up in the relegation final in 2017, they made a minor final in 2017 losing to the Martins by a point and 6 of that team are now regulars for the seniors."
Yes the younger guys definitely broke through for Ferns at the right time because as you said they were slipping backwards but I suppose most clubs need the same to happen every few years to stay competitive.

I was up in Bellefield and Taghmon v Askamore was an entertaining end to end game, with the 2 sets of forwards linking up and playing well, with both teams on top at different times, and the result in the balance right up to the final whistle. All despite the 2 teams missing their main playmakers in Ian Carthy and PJ Nolan. Sadly Nolan appears to be out for the year now.
For Taghmon the decision by their manager Brian Dignam to move Conor Murphy, who hurled at wingback and midfield for Wexfords u20s this year, into the forwards looks an inspired one already with the young forward now scoring a brace of goals in each of his last 2 games. He got 2-2, the impressive Stephen O'Gorman got 1-2, and Cathal Doyle, despite a good performance by his marker Sean Bookey, got 0-13 with 4 from play.
For Askamore Shane Tompkins, Tucker Kinsella, and Podge and James Byrne were very good up front, while Sean Kirwan did well in midfield.
The 1 point win, Taghmons 3rd win by that margin this year, sees them qualified with 2 games to spare, while Askamore have 2 more games to join them in the Quarter finals.

Big win for Crossabeg today in the park Brody Murphy was ourstanding getting 2-3 from play. Paudie foley was very good but rathnure looked very limited and will be favourites for the drop in my opinion. In disarray at the back for the two goals. overall was a poor standard game but crossabeg were more athletic in the end similar to the first game shels had too much running for oulart in the end. Oulart held their own for long periods. Simon donohoe was excellent as was Conor hearse. They run the ball through the lines similar to their footballing approach. Think oulart wil beat rathnure well

It most likely will be down to score difference between Crossabeg and Oulart for who is 4/5th in the group, I would fancy Crossabeg to come out of it as they are perhaps the team hardest to beat of the two, Oulart were in it longer than expected but the Shels missed a lot of goal chances. Oulart should beat Rathnure. Its the last game in the group and potentially whoever loses will be in the relegation final. The other group is harder to call and there may be a surprise or two still left in the group.

After 1 win and 1 draw in the Round Robin so far? Or are you basing that on their team on paper? Which is why they won the last few championships at a canter. Oh wait.......

Was down in Wexford Park for both games last night .. Shels looked very good and comfortable against Oulart. Moved the balls through the lines very quickly and finding space easily. Simon Donohoe was excellent and makes it look so simple. Conor Hearne very good too .. I think the Shels will be in the shakeup .. Oulart did try but lack quality players I am afraid. Was good to see Shaun Murphy come on but Eoin Moore had his thumb heavily strapped and never looked comfortable.

The second game between Crossabeg & Rathnure was as poor an affair as I've seen in a while. Both teams looked like they'd rather be anywhere than playing Championship hurling in Wexford Park. Rathnure had a good first half and were well up at half time. Jack Redmond the pick of the payers with some superb points. However similar to last week Rathnure disintegrated in the 2nd half and there was a 12 point turn around not helped by conceding of two poor goals .. Crossabeg half back line hurled very well. Brody Murphy scored 2-3 from play .. Rathnure are definitely favorites to bottom this group - now that said the referee blew for half time just as Rathnure were in possession and offloaded to Rory Higgins who stuck it in the net ... that could of been a big difference going on at half time

Haha, clearly a Martins man posting this. I'd probably tip Gorey to beat them if they were to play again, having watched the game Saturday.
Championship is wide open, any of the following can win it: Martins, Gorey, Rapps, Shels.
Am ruling Ferns out on the basis they are going to find it very difficult to win back to back titles, and while St Annes, and maybe Oilgate to a lesser extent could beat any of the above teams, they probably don't have the fire power to do it three weeks in a row.

Clearly not a martins man as they know damn well that no county title is won during the group stages. 5 front runners in ferns, rapps, shels, gorey and the martins with th annes and oylegate able to beat them all on their day

Martins are in the chasing pack every year and on paper are very strong. Fact remains that despite that they have won one title in the last 5 years. I always had you pegged as a town man myself.

Cloughbawn bet the Alley well and are looking like they will bounce straight back up again. No one seems to be getting close to them in intermediate at the minute. Fethard finally seemed to click giving Gusserane a good beating at the weekend and if they defeat Horeswood this coming weekend, could be looking towards a quarter final spot with having done little hurling in their first two games. Taghmon and Tara Rocks leading the way in the other group but I think the opposite group looks far stronger with Cloughbawn, alley and fethard all potential semi finalists with maybe Tara Rocks.

Horeswood looked poor again at the weekend.Normally teams that come up from Intermediate A do well but I think at the minute there is a bit of a step up, no different to an intermediate team going to senior. I would have had Adamstown as certs to go down but they put up a strong performance against Tara Rocks. So it's looking like them and Horeswood in the relegation final. Adamstown seem to always come good in those matches tight matches.
