When will the rearranged game be played now? on another note, has there been any update on the club league? i.am.legend (UK) - Posts: 49 - 21/02/2022 14:43:32 2401617 Link 0 |

To be announced this week. I would presume the weekend of 5/6 March, as that's the hurling weekend and there's no football set. They'll have to use this as there's no other free weekends as we're out 3 weeks on the trot after that weekend. Makes it for 5 weeks out in a row once you count in the Carlow game this weekend. Will be an ask for some lads and can't risk injury so might be some rotation here and there

The Club league is due to commence March 26/27th I presume that is still the case hopefully clubs would have the fixtures before the end of February. Or March 1st as sometimes there is a Fixtures meeting on Monday night.

Well what's the verdict for Sunday ? will game even go ahead ? Will Breiffne withstand these storms and will the pitch survive the battering it's got over the last few weeks ? 5allirelands (Cavan) - Posts: 90 - 24/02/2022 10:48:56 2402176 Link 0 |

People say don't under estimate the opposition but if we are not beating Carlow well then we may forget about doing anything this year. MacAtack (Cavan) - Posts: 5 - 24/02/2022 20:43:07 2402275 Link 0 |

If we don't win this by 10+ points then we should just forget about it all together….but then again when our leading scorer is the goalkeeper you can't rule anything out…. ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 4243 - 25/02/2022 10:01:25 2402301 Link 0 |

Carlow were missing nine players against Sligo between injuries and suspension, I know that for a fact and they recovered from that mauling with a win the next day against Waterford ! you can be sure they won't lie down on Sunday !

Another unconvincing win and another game goes by without us scoring a goal…. Still 2 more points on the board but nothing to write home about…! ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 4243 - 27/02/2022 16:15:03 2402731 Link 0 |

Don't worry, we'll suffer the defeat you're holding out for at some point this year and you'll have something to write home about then!

And we are 1 of only 2 teams who have won all their games. But don't mention that, it doesn't suit the narrative of some "supporters" on here cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5333 - 27/02/2022 20:02:23 2402813 Link 0 |

The defeat will definitely come but in the Championship..,, If we loose a game in this division we should take a leaf out of the hurlers book a few years ago and disband… There is no team in this division that should be getting close to us but even though we are winning there is nothing convincing in our performances… not been able to get a goal against this type of opposition is worrying….

Got the win, which at the end of the day is the most important thing. Overall performance still leaves a lot to be desired, but we always did have control of the game and saw it out. Carlow for their part were actually decent. They used the very strong wind in the 1st half, by converting practically every chance they had with a number of long range shots. They scored some belters to be fair. We had a lot harder work to do in the 1st half against the wind. We had to work that ball inside the 21 before getting a shot away, and we did it very well to lead at half time when all they had to do was take a pot shot from 50 metres out. Did decently for a time in the 2nd half, even opening up a 6 point lead at on stage but we really just coasted at that stage. Got a scare when they got a goal, but were always able to get a few more points to keep them at arms length. A win without a good overall performance. The wearecavan lads had a statistic that only once I think in the last 10 years has any team in Div 4 won every game. That included a Roscommon and Westmeath team that went from Div 4 to Div 1. Only Derry did it. Its a good job they didnt all follow your advice and disband or we'd only have 23 counties left.

Indeed. Think it's 2008 that we went to the 4 Division system. And Derry is that only team to do it out of those 14 seasons since 2008. I do think we will slip up somewhere, maybe a tight loss or a draw. But law of averages is against us here, very few teams do it, and with Derry looking like they're on the way up to Division 1, it takes a very good side to go 7 from 7 in the division. Promotion is what is required, and doesn't matter if it's 12 or 14 points, as long as we go up.

Westmeath went ( like ourselves ) from Div 1 to 4 but not the other way around I think… I don't remember Roscommon in Div 4 but you might be right on that… The point is we should not loose to any team in this basement division… It's embarrassing enough to be in it without loosing to somebody as well…

It's a breath of fresh air to hear a balanced fair and honest assessment of things yesterday ! well done Loughduff lad - agree with pretty much everything you said compared to some of the 'over the top boil' thats spouted by some merchants on here. You'd really wonder did some of these lads ever kick a ball in their lives ? It panned out yesterday as I suggested last week - Carlow turned up and tore into us ! teams don't fear us I'm afraid. It was never going to be easy in this division, dog eat dog, and yes, I know we were FAR from perfect that goes without saying but it's all about the result - 2 points in the bag, move on ! If you had won yesterday by 11 points would you get any thanks or extra credit for it, no, you would get 2 points in the league. The big negative for me was the red for Thomas Galligan ! he should know better now, I'm sure it's not the first time a marker was hanging out of him ? not sure why he lashed out ? say it was harmless enough too ? On to Markievicz now, tough test. Will Argue hold his spot or will Mickie play K Clarke in the middle of the field ? 5allirelands (Cavan) - Posts: 90 - 28/02/2022 10:40:47 2402894 Link 0 |

A loss may very well happen. It's not a failure. Any team can be caught over 7 games. And it's clear we're trying things. We left Killian Clarke in the stands, missing McLoughlin, took Gerry Smith off early, and only brought Conor Madden on in the 2nd half. We're going to be out 5 weeks in a row (and a trip to London in the middle of this), after being off for 3 weeks. We have to be intelligent here. We can't go balls out for all 5 games with the same first teamers. The point is promotion, get to 10 or 12 points and that'll be enough, and I'd rather we try something and learn something about ourselves than go out strong, walking over teams, and risking players to injury over that 5 week workload. It is very rare that someone goes 7 from 7 so ease up and you just have to expect that we may have an off day in the next 4 weeks. I have to say, I find you exceedingly negative on here about everything. Is there anything you are ever happy with? Do you actually go to the games?
