Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "The bare facts are that Graham has led us all the way down to division 4…. Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge would know playing Div 3/4 football is no preparation for the rough and tumble of Ulster Championship football…. While we deserved to win the Final in 2020 v Donegal the manner in which we reached the final was a pure fluke and could never be repeated… We were beaten in 10 minutes in the previous Final and last year when we met one of the big boys in the first round (Tyrone) we folded…. For the last 20 years unless we are on the handy side of the draw we never get near an Ulster Final…. We can generally handle Monaghan ( usually beat themselves ) but a 1st round meeting with Tyrone/Donegal or even Derry would end in the usual defeat… We can usually get over Fermanagh or Antrim because normally we would be competing at a higher league level than both but for probably the first time in our history ( thanks to Graham ) we are the lowest ranked league team in Ulster… Let's hope this has no baring on our result in the match v Antrim…!!"
For once and for all why dont you tell us all here how reaching the Ulster final from the preliminary round with no break week on week is a fluke? I never came across the likes of you before. Div 1 team Armagh have never been in an Ulster final under McGeeney for example but only in Cavan could we have people like you who are not depressed enough with the teams current form so you look to destroy the legacy of what the lads did in 2020. You are pathetic.

No just realistic…. You must be pure thick or stupid not to see our run to the final was riddled with pure luck… and our subsequent performances have only proved my point… Go on burying your head in the sand…. It's people like you at the helm of Cavan football who have us playing basement football for the 1st time in history but say nothing Mickey Graham is a genius for achieving 3 relegations in a row….. You couldn't make it up… Remember we are not Ulster Champions.. we are Division 4 struggling with the lowest ranked teams in the country… But you seem delighted with that…. Now that's what I call pathetic…!!!!

The problem at the moment and for the last few years are the stats men. I was told by some one involved last year that the stats for our minor under 21 and senior teams were among the best in the country and all the management teams were amazed by how badly they performed with such brilliant stats. It begins with the stats men at county under age squads where the lad who can collect a ball that is hand passed to him from 10 yards and turn around and hand pass it to another lad who is beside him and is from a certain clubs will become a member. Any skillful player with loads of potential who constantly takes on his man or attempts to score from difficult angles but also loses alot of possession and can not be programmed is dropped. You then end up with what we have a bunch of very similat players who have played this rubbish for years with management roaring at them continously from the side line as there stats are dropping.
For example the young lad from Laragh United Jack Mckenna at club football he wins the ball and attacks the opposition all the time and attacks straight up the middle and goes in a direct line for the goals I bet he wont last long i say the ears are burnt of him already before he even gets a game.

Waterford game now on at 6pm Saturday. Was originally down for 1.30 Sunday. Odd all games are now different times. Some trip home for Waterford after at that hour

It's actually mad the vitriol on here regarding League matches. The sooner we're out of this Division the better. I've never in my life seen as much rage on the page as right now and it has everyone divided. No matter what we did in this Division it was lose-lose either way. Can we try chill and see how we get on in a League final and Championship? After all, that's the main thing. But by god, if any of the team or their families read this crack, what would they think?

Makes no sense whatsoever…. All final round games should throw in at the same time…. Those running the GAA must have no brains at all…

I did not say or imply I was delighted with life in Div4. I am annoyed we are here and I am annoyed with our performance level. I never said Mickey Graham was a genius either. So stop making stuff up that I didn't say to strengthen your argument.

I just want you to explain how we were lucky to get to the Ulster final in 2020 because thats what you said in the post you wrote and I would like you to expand on that.

I think most of the rage here is aimed at our woeful management and the way they have the team playing…..I don't think the players even enjoy it … and nobody in their right mind would enjoy watching it either

If it has to be explained to you then you truly are deluded and can only see the one side of things when your team plays….. open your eyes a bit more

How woeful is the management though? Like I'm honestly asking. Many of the games we have gone out and either started well, or managed well against the wind initially showing they've been set up well and sent out there. However we then go out of it and go asleep. I see and hear them making positional changes, making subs and so on. But if the players switch off and make poor decisions, what can be done from the line? When we've actually been zoned it, we have played some lovely football. The problem is there isn't enough of it, and not knitted enough quarters together to put in a full performance.

And my point is people need to chill a bit. It's the League. This anger feeds into the players, our fans in the stand can be absolute pests in the way they shout and go mental from the throw in. Get through this, get up, and then see if we can put performances together - we have seen glimpses. We may very well be sandbagging a bit, and we have given some young players a go. Things you do in the League. I'm not defending it though, but Championship is an absolute different level, so lets see how we do there.

As usual all bluster but when asked to back it up you cant. So now that you have shown you cannot back it up maybe you will refrain from the disgraceful comments on the achievements of our team in 2020.

Very bad first halves in each, but polar opposite second halves (and extra time against Monaghan) to get the wins. Not just about how you start, but if you cross the line at the finish. Which we did. What's your point? We played more good ball than bad in those games. And we won.

Knocking over points for fun in the 2nd halves of those matches, have you an issue with that?

One thing people need to realise when judging our 2020 ulster win. .
Mickey does not put any emphasis whatsoever on the league. Now you can argue that he should. But he doesn't.
So when judging our "form" before or after the 2020 ulster win to decide if it was a fluke or not, here is our form:

Before:

Beat Monaghan, beat Armagh after replay, lost to Donegal in Ulster final.
Beat Monaghan, Antrim and down.

After: lost to Dublin. Lost to Tyrone. (Both won the all ireland that year).

Should we be doing better in the league? Yes.

Can you use the league as a barometer for measuring our championship performances, amd thus call 2020 a fluke? No, definitely not.

No we are not struggling with the rest of them in Div 4. We are actually top of the group and getting promoted which is exactly what we needed to do. Should be hammering teams yes but winning and escaping this group is priority and it has been achieved. Nobody from players/fans/ back room team wants to be in or is proud to win Div 4. You claim 2020 was a fluke but by that logic it was a fluke we landed in Div 4 at all. Could very easily have been in Div2 which is about our acceptable level.
Simple as this; when Graham got the job would I take an ulster win but also get relegated to Div 4??? Absolutely I would and I'd take it again next year. Up Cavan

Yeh we should have won each match 4-34 to 0-0 and even at that I'd say these boys wouldn't be happy or would declare it a fluke. Sad sad individuals with zero to offer to cavan football.

Lads the whingers on here are the exact lads that everyone rolls their eyes at when they walk into their local. Pointless even humouring them.

Let's be honest, it's year four of this management team... And I don't think anyone could possibly say that this Cavan team has improved. We essentially have the same core of players the past four years and we have gotten worse.
I know the league is of less significance than championship but the teams we are playing are the worst in Ireland. I don't think losing and scrapping by these teams is a good thing for Cavan football. After four years of strength and conditioning and a similar tactical approach you would imagine things should be much better.
