Clare has won 1 All Irl in the past 20 years. Cork have won none since Galway joined the Leinster championship in 2009. The only team to have competed with Kk since then and have a decent strike rate is Tipp, Cork won their last one in 2005. There hasnt been a big three since Cody took charge of KK. Galway had no proper preparaion for Croke Park pre 2009, since then they have been as competitive as most bar KK and Tipp.

If the GAA were to train and select referees from Ulster and Connacht for the AIF eg Antrim & Down, Roscommon & Mayo they could not be accused of provincial bias but the GAA is still stuck in provincialism. In Galway's case having a ref from a Leinster county that vehemerntly opposed their participation in the Leinster championship, as happened recently, is unfortunate.

Ah will go away with your 'proper preparation', Kerry had walk overs for donkeys years in Munster and it never stopped them winning in Croke Park. Almost all the time Limerick, Clare or Waterford got out of the bear pit that is Munster were taking on Leinster teams who were usually far more used to playing in Croke Park. The fact is Galway were in Munster for ten years, and let me add at all levels from day one, and they only won game V Clare and ran back to Connacht. BTW, ye picked the right province to go to the next time. If Waterford win on Sunday The McCarthy Cup will have rested in five different Munster counties in sixteen years. Between them, Clare Waterford and Limerick won ten of the last twenty Under 21 titles while the real Leinster counties, apary from KK, have won nothing at National Level, except a National League Title won by Dublin. Galway would be far better off concentrating on why, with such such a huge hurling population they have lost such a huge percentage of the All Irelands they played in, rather that worrying how other counties are doing. I'm not your friend, I was merely questioning your reasoning and your data. On a thread about this year's All Ireland Final you seem very keen to criticise Galway's record in All Ireland Finals. I have great regard for Cork and their hurling. There's a long unbroken tradition of club hurling in both Cork and Galway, something that can't be said about many other 'traditional' counties, a tradition passed on in each parish long before the GAA was formed, without any financial assistance but purely for the love of the game. Have a look at Galway's record at club level and then come back to me on the appropriate thread after the final. What's the Roscommon strike rate? Which Connacht county voted against allowing Tony Keady to play in the 1989 All Ireland Semi-Final? Roscommon weren't keen on helping Galway's strike rate then! Hang your heads in shame!

As I said before I remember their '57 to '63 team,- a fine team-. If they do win on Sunday like the vast majority of Limerick hurling people, I will heartily congratulate them and I will be delighted that five Munster teams have won the All Ireland in the past sixteen years. If defeated we wont be looking back, criticising refs or singling out any one county for constant and selective criticism - instead we will be looking forward to our next game. As regards Galway poor All Ireland Final record several hurling people from all over the country, are amazed that a county with so many so great clubs and so wide a hurling heartland, in both town and country, has won so few All Irelands. Even a fellow Galway contributor has pointed commented on this on another thread in the past few weeks. You speak about their great record at club level and one has to wonder why that has not contributed to more success that it has at the top level. On a brighter note with the many fine minor teams they have produced over the last four years, Galway should be the team of the twenties, but we will have to wait and see. If they are more luck to them. One of the reasons I criticised Galway in the past was in response to some Galway who seem every attempt to denigrate our successs in'18. One even Limerick was not a hurling county. Of course that three are only three counties that have won All Irelands in three different Centuries. Limerick were winning Munster and All Ireland titles long before JPs time. In fairness Roscommon never did any good when it came to hurling and their Co.Board in 1989 proved that when they voted against the late great Tony Keady been denied to play the game he loved so much in the '89 All Ireland Semi Final.

BTW, What way did Limerick vote on that issue since you know how the Rossies voted. Anyway if the Galway Management team and County Board had just made the point that if Tony Keady was injured they would have had to play on and they might never have been beaten. Instead all Galway seemed to overplay the 'look how hard done we were' crack, lost focus and Tipp ended up benefitting. Tipp had the same situation with Paul Delaney in 91 but the canney 'auld devils' simply quietly dropped Paul and reaped the rewards. Yes it was hard on Galway, but like Clare in '98, people who should have known better reacted wrongly.
