Replying To Oldtourman:  "Good Point. Some of them around us in Croke Park last Sunday thought the game was over after twelve minutes because they went eight points up and they accuse us of bragging. At least in the last six years we had something to brag about. You couldn't make it up."
Mr. Oldtourman..,Am surprised you're complaining about the Rebel supporters. You got a much sought after ticket to watch the 2 best teams in the country, who served up a game for the ages. Rob Downey's goal was one of the best ever scored and you should have been in rapture. This time we were on the wrong side of a 1 point defeat but let's hope we're around to watch similar epics in the future. Myself, I would like the introduction of some form of VAR, as there are too many referee errors but in the meantime let's look forward to next year!

The Cork mans measure of a successful season isn't winning a league, let alone Munster, not to even think about an All Ireland.
It's beating Limerick. Twice no less."
Yeah. We did ok. Beat the self proclaimed greatest team of all time twice, and participated in maybe best all Ireland final ever. Lost by a single point in a game that could have gone either way..Not too shabby, considering we were almost out of Munster early on, and were 50/1 with bookies. We're back at the top table and hopefully All Ireland's will follow.

Replying To Oldtourman:  "Well in Fairness Ryan no Munster team has ever equalled the record of this Limerick team over a seven year period. The Cork four in a row team does not compare as they could not even win four Munsters in a row much less six and no Tipp won a four in a row even in Munster, much less outside it. To do this with a team with the Sixth Hurling Population in Ireland and about one Fifth your Hurling Population has been an achievement we can be quietly proud of."
Let's hope you can keep it up, and not drift into oblivion as you've done throughout your history!

his can give you great comfort over the winter same as it has every year winter for the last 20 years."

I hope that nobody on here confuses 'comfort' with 'complacency'. 2O YEARS is a gigantic number for the biggest county, area wise, with the most hurling clubs to go with an AI senior title.

Don't fret Cork lads, you have a good team now. It's only a matter of time.

Shure, it nearly happened Kilkenny, who went from 1887 to 1904 without a title.

And Tipperary, who went from 1971 to 1989 without winning Liam.

Outside of the BIG 3, all the rest are all lesser mortals."]It happens… your own Yankees went from 1978 to 1996 without winning a title. The current Yankees haven't won since 2009 … and as I have lived in NY throughout that whole period, I've heard all about it. Manchester United last won premiership in 2012… and in football poor Mayo, a big footballing county haven't won since 1951. I have no doubt Cork will be back challenging next year, we came extremely close to ending our drought this year. Great season and keep GAAGO around so I can keep enjoying the games! Maybe GAA could introduce VAR as well… Keep up with the times!

I've been following Limerick in Munster since before 1996. Since the early 90s in fact. Most of the teams I follow in any sport haven't been very successful truth be told. In soccer I've followed Millwall since the early 80s, and Cliftonville since 1990. In MLB I've followed the Cubs since the 80s, and in NFL the Bears since then also, on account of AFKN being the only English language tv station in Korea at the time. In cricket I follow South Africa and Zimbabwe unless they are playing Ireland, in rugby Ireland and Ulster, and South Africa if Ireland arent playing them. I lived in Botswana in the 70s.
Tbh like most people down your way you have been very dismissive of Wexford in several posts, so I get great joy out of winding you up. Some questions for you-
A- Which of Wexford and Cork most recently won any Championship silverware?
B- Who won the last Championship meeting between Wexford and Cork?

Obviously you have a far better record historically than we do, but maybe you should consider the above 2 questions when cutting at me about 1996;-)"
Aaah. A supporter of the Bears. They did have a superb team in 1986, won the super bowl back then, with the Refrigerator Perry, Willie Gault , Walter Payton, and McMahon (who has dementia now). I remember them playing the Giants in the run up to Super Bowl..,The Super Bowl shuffle came out around that time. Hope you haven't jinxed them because they've won nothing since.

Orange order taking opportunity to organize a parade along Garvaghy Road during Armagh/ Galway final. The GAA should have listened to the esteemed Tom Smith , when he suggested that they extend hand of friendship to the loyalist community. Alas, his voice was a cry in the wilderness!

He must be an old man if he remembers Wexford's win over Galway in '55. Half the Galway team emigrated after that final. Anyway, Wexford beat Cork in '56 after losing to them in '54, so not really tainted. Cork's wins over Wexford in 1976 and 1977 were tainted as they didn't beat Kilkenny, but they redeemed that in 1978. Win in 1966 was definitely tainted as Tipperary were not "bet", but nobody cared.I don't think Clare will care either!

It is a compliment. We stopped your 5 in a row, which you were so close to! That would have been a unique accomplishment, and unlikely to be replicated. Cork will always win more all Ireland's, but that drive for 5 is a more elusive target. Was good to stop you, like Tipperary stopped Kilkenny… yeah.. great year!!

Replying To Ryanteam:  "Doesn't matter as we had a great year. Cork hurling is on a high and we'll look forward to the future. Stopped your drive for 5 and beat Limerick twice. The greatest team in history ha ha. You'll probably go down definitely as the greatest braggarts in history! We always have our 30 all Ireland's and remember that you lot were in the wilderness between 1973 and 2018."
Best of luck to you. I think we are far more understated in Limerick than our Cork and Kerry neighbours and to say we are the greatest braggarts is ignorant. I think Cork down there in the "real capital" and "gods county"are surely the front runner in that category if you were to ask a neutral party :)
Also that fact we came from the wilderness to this level of success means we have a different mindset. I think we have cherished these 5 wins far more in Limerick and gone right the way along on the journey with our team than the likes of KK, not because we are boastful or thought we were great but because of the shared pain we went through for decades to get to that point.

The funny thing was I was never really concerned after going 7/8 down. I just felt that we needed to tweak things as I felt we were creating chances and the ball was sticking. When we compare this to the Munster final, I knew we were off that day from the get go.

Corks defence will give up chances and I felt we would get back into the game. We almost led at half time too but you would have to say on the balance of play, Cork should have been leading by a couple at half time.

I thought we were much the better team in the second half but shooting inefficiently cost us

Aw come on! Plenty of limerick posters here have been bragging since 2018! When you're winning that's your prerogative, but you've done your share of it.

Pity it wasn't a replay, which would really have replicated 2013. It was a game for the ages, and hurling was the big winner.

He's the same age as me near enough. But all the talk from the press and hurling communities in 55, especially in Cork and Tipp, was how Wexford won an easy all Ireland. This drove the lads on in 56. They didn't lose a single game in 1956, winning the League and Oireachtas Cup also. This would be common knowledge to all hurling people, especially down here.
The 70s were an unlucky decade for us apparently. Kilkenny had a very strong team, as did yourselves. You were the only 2 counties we lost to in championship for the entire decade. We had a very good team, but sadly like Hoggie, so far, many great hurlers on it who won multiple all stars never got a celtic cross. In 76 for example 2 Wexford men won the player of the year and championship top scorer. I'm sure both would've preferred bringing Liam home! Many older people felt that 76 in particular was the one that got away. We beat Kilkenny by 17 points in the Leinster final that year! Probably some sort of record for them, and an incredible result back then when games were lower scoring.
You have been equally unlucky since 2005. Probably the 2 greatest teams the game has ever seen emerged from 2 other counties in that period. Clare, Galway and Tipp probably each had their 2nd best teams in their history at the same time. All we both can do is look forward and go again next year. Try change some things. Try to be better. And hope for that little bit of luck.

Ah no I started following them in 85 when my dad got posted to Korea. He was a big jazz and blues fan.
The Bears have only reached one superbowl since though. Hopefully Williams might turn into our 1st franchise quarterback since before the Supwrbowl era!

Personally I think a challenge system like in American sports would be better. Maybe allow 1 per half. VAR would break the game up too much.

Maybe they will be wearing their Orange in support of their countymen! At least that's what should be put to them;-)

They beat everyone else so I'd be guessing they will be happy enough. It's probably harder in a way to win now, more games, less recovery time. Different times.

Well I have been going to Matches since the early Sixties and when Limerick are not playing I will always follow my proud Banner Neighbors. I was in Thurles in 67 when they played Kilkenny three times-I think- in a League Semi Final and there again in 77 (when thieves ran away with the gate receipts) and 78 and all those years in between. I have been at all the AIFs they played, except for the 13 drawn game. So I feel I was just as entitled to be there as anybody else
Anyway, Ryan, one does benefit from having friends in low places.

Dead on LRH. Any real Hurling Match Attendee would have known the 7!8 point lead was nothing. Just bandwagoners, I suppose.
