Replying To Ryanteam:  "Bookies have already decided outcome of this match. Boyle sports has Limerick 1/3. Cork 10/3. Foregone conclusion in their eyes. Clare/Kilkenny is evens."
Limerick are capable of beating every other team well, particularly the closer they get to the final. They might do so on Sunday but I fancy Cork to give them a right rattle.

Much as i was pleased with our fellas recovery from the disaster against the Cats, I thought Cork never really looked in danger. Might even have avoided showing their hand by setting up differently than they might do against Limerick again?

If Cork throw the shackles off and turn it into something similar to the Munster game with a fair few goals then it lessens the chances of Limerick dictating the game. Still think Limerick will win but still see this as their biggest obstacle to winning the 5 as would expect them to beat either Cats or Clare with a bit in hand again.

Replying To CiarraiMick:  "Cork were 50/1 for All Ireland before last time they played Limerick and 4 or 5 to one for the games its self.Limerick favourites and rightly so but Cork well able to beat them and Cork will love those odds Ryan."
They'd lost to Waterford and Clare. Why wouldn't they be 50/1? If Limerick were afraid of Cork, they could have drawn the last game v Waterford, which would have eliminated Cork. Cork's championship was on lifesupport the night they beat Limerick. Much more even motivations in both camps heading into Sunday's semi.

Replying To Ryanteam:  "Limerick definitely are in driving seat, and will take some effort to beat them. Some matchups are intriguing and may decide the game. Will Cork target Limerick half back line again, with Dalton and Kyle Hayes going at it? I wouldn't be surprised to see a few red cards, and players will have to be disciplined. Harnedy and Barrett vs Byrnes and Hannon could decide this game, and Cork do have a goalgetter in Connolly should they run at Limerick's defense. Darragh Donovan coming back, should shore up the Limerick midfield, and the machine should chug on. Hegarty and Hayes are performing at top of their game, and Gillane is due a good game. Cork's defense has shown improvement, but they have to avoid conceding soft scores via short puck outs etc. First half should be at a blistering pace, and potentially this could be game of year!"
Cork should be avoiding short puckouts at all costs! Agree re match ups, but I'd also like to see Twomey back in midfield as his graft and work rate will definitely be required. I'd imagine O'Donovan will be back for Limerick, but there are rumours that Nash is out? He would be a huge loss to Limerick if that is the case. Who plays at No.6? Will Joyce be accommodated in the HB line? Some tough calls for Pat and his team...

Replying To CTGAA10:  "These games for me can go the way of any of the 4.of course I want to see limerick get a chance of getting that 5 in a row but I won't be one bit surprised if Clare and cork win..a great weekend of hurling ahead.."
What is the latest on Nash?

Limerick v cork is very open I'd say.
Cork will come all guns blazing at limerick, being most people's favourites doesent phase limerick, they have proven that over last few years. People say nobody has challenged in a meaningful way but look at the results over the years and we have won a lot of close games. Hoping limerick will do enough to progress to the final but expecting a right battle.
Clare v kilkenny ,I'd say clare if pushed but kk being kk you can't discount them by any means ,the calibre of hurlers they have always puts them in with at least a 50/50 chance.

Maybe it's just me but you would hardly know the games are on!

No promotion, feck all advertising I've seen, another casualty of the condensed season where nothing it seems gets a chance to breath. These games are going to be epic I reckon, we partnered with rte who don't even seem bothered let's be honest unless they stick it on gaago to fleece a few quid!

Both hurling semi-finals are live on RTE and the BBC (great for me).

You're right. There's nothing to suggest there's two huge matches this weekend.
In a lot of ways the championship has been watered down to a shadow of what it was
20 /30 years ago... The intensity of the round Robin, means everything is rushed.
Then playing off matches at ridiculous times to accommodate other sports on TV.

I'm sure the split season has been a big success in a lot of ways, but the sense is that intercounty matches are in the way and need to be done and dusted ASAP.
Bringing the finals to July has been a very bad move.

Are you wanting to do away with the Round Robins then?

Knockfiarna. Looking forward to the weekend games, should be 2 good matches. Looking at your username, Is Knockfiarna is a mountain near Ballingarry in west Limerick. My late father was from Croom, we could see Knockfiarna from the grounds of the home place.

Agree Nash would be a huge loss...Sean Finn will have to start now instead of being a sub.

No, I'm not.. I just think rushing the championship to be finished by mid July is nuts. It's too condensed.

You know for an organisation that's identity is so heavily rooted in tradition I think the new championship calender has ruined it.

For more casual supporters half of them don't even realise the championship has started nevermind at semi final stage.

Bring back the first Sunday in September please.

I see the Limerick leader is reporting that he's a serious injury doubt. Anyway, Cork team named, and Twomey not included, I'm slightly disappointed with that one tbh. I wonder will Coleman go to MF and Joyce slot in to the HB line. We'll see. Assume Limerick team is named this evening. Roll on the weekend for two humdingers in store!

Agree 100% with that. Many other countries have cup finals, super bowls, world series, biggest horse races etc, etc, all on the same weeks and even days more or less for generations. As we did with the AI finals.

They are a very important part of national identity even for people who are not greatly interested in the sports. They are a cultural reference point.

Our establishment appears not to be able to get rid of any such thing as quickly as they can.

I think August is a good month to play the All Ireland Finals. A September date is not my preference.
September belongs in the past, when it suited the farming community to play the finals, schools returned just after the Hurling Final in early September.
The GAA and Ireland are in a different place today, players are drawn from a wide range of professions and careers nowasays.
