Yes, both Munster and Leinster have it up in the air now as to who will quality. JahTribe (Galway) - Posts: 155 - 12/05/2024 14:02:56 2544258 Link 0 |
Logic would suggest cork snd clare wins next weekend but I'm not so sure at all. All 4 teams know next weekend it's right there for them. Cork still need a bit of luck in other fixtures but they're in there with a shout now. Waterford will bring everything next weekend after corks win last night and Liam cahill might look at the scenes after the match last night and take a bit from that. I might take a trip to ennis myself as I think it'll be very tasty down there daveboy (Limerick) - Posts: 1197 - 12/05/2024 19:10:25 2544343 Link 0 |
No not necessarily. You are not great at the old advanced Maths. If Cork beat Tipp, that is Tipp gone and Limerick would be out if they did not beat Waterford. But if Waterford edge Clare then Clare can only reach four points and Limerick go through on the the head to head. If Tipp draw with Cork and beat Clare, then Tipp, Clare, and Limerick all end on Four points. Limerick go through on score difference. I am allowing that Clare beat Waterford and Waterford beat Limerick in that scenario. It is simply all to play for in what by a country the greatest Provincial Championship of them all. Last night was probably the best Hurling Match I was ever at and I have been attending them since the early sixties.

Poor Katser on a race to the bottom as always. Keep your eye closely on the Leinster Championship. It is usually like simple arithmetic.

Simple is....Cork beat Tipp, Clare beat Waterford and Tipp, Waterford beat limrik! What odds would one get on those results! By the way k.hayes did some flapping with pure panic when he fouled S.Kingston giving away the penalty at the end!! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2475 - 12/05/2024 21:38:46 2544388 Link 0 |

I don't think Munster has ever been as competitive and god knows whatever 3 get out will have earned it. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 13/05/2024 07:40:22 2544395 Link 0 |
You're a simpleton, but an entertaining one. It's sweet how excited you get when Limerick lose a significant match. It seems to be comparable enjoyment for you to when Galway actually win. Both rare enough events these days. Keep up the predictions, you've been wrong for 6 years but you'll get it right some day. skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1103 - 13/05/2024 07:49:50 2544396 Link 0 |
I think I would agree with you it was an incredible match I was glued to TV a nice little bit of tetchiness on the line as well two teams that went at it hammer and thongs & I thought the Ref was good and let it flow bar possibly the advantage for Aaron Gillane seemed to do well. Its wide open now again Limerick are unlikely to slip up but every game now is practically knock out Waterford come to Ennis full of beans nothing would please him better that get one over Brian Tipp & Cork Knockout what will we do when this s marvellous hurling season is over clooney (Clare) - Posts: 960 - 13/05/2024 08:34:15 2544400 Link 0 |
If we go out we will wish our conquerors well and have no whinging about Referees or anything else. We will be content in the knowledge that we have seen one of the greatest Hurling Teams of ll time. They owe us or the game of Hurling absolutely nothing.

In fairnes WPW, they were well beaten in the replay in '13. In 2021 they had a ral shocker against Limerick. The fact is Cork have struggled big time in Croke Park for the past fifteen years. This looks a fine side however.

And might very well win the AI for another 3 or 4 years in a row.

You mean nothing would please Davy more than getting one over Brian. We have hurt Waterford over the last couple of years and they will be chomping to have a go at us in Ennis. I cant see us losing 2 matches at home though but I am fed up trying to guess what way this championship is going to go!! The Limerick Cork result was arguably a disaster for Tipperary but the way things have been going, I wouldnt put it passed them now to beat Cork. I dont logically think it will happen but logic has been thrown out the window so often this year I dont know what to believe anymore. Has to be said you would need a time machine to predict who will come out of either round robin.

To mention too, after all the talk about referees recently it was really refreshing to see such a superb refereeing performance on Saturday evening in the Cork Limerick match. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 13/05/2024 10:23:19 2544424 Link 0 |
Cork have had some shocking years and performances in that time, but I was just making the case they weren't a complete non-factor in the championship for the past 20 years. A team which was a few seconds away from winning the All-Ireland were absolutely a factor that year. They were also a fairly significant factor in 2018. We all know there is talent in Cork. They definitely showed that on Saturday evening. The key for them now is to back it up against Tipp. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2187 - 13/05/2024 11:24:42 2544442 Link 0 |
Lrh I won't be surprised if tipp get a result against cork..winner can qualify, loser is out..if Waterford were to win 2 remaining games they'll top the group..if 3 teams finish on 4 points does it come down to scoring difference..head to head I take it can't be used..I notice also that only terrace tickets left for cork/tipp and limerick/Waterford games..a comment on ref last Saturday,he was very good in my opinion and used his common sense and seemed to communicate with all his officials..thought he was right with penalty awarded as it looked like it was a goal scoring chance..it has been an excellent championship so far and 2 more great weekends left.. Yeah I agree, I have to admit I was dubious about the ref before the match given he is from Sixmilebridge, but we don't have any complaints. In a full blooded game, similar in intensity to the Clare V Limerick match its hard to pick up on everything and some decisions you will get and some you won't. Nobody is talking about the ref which says he did a good job. I must say though what a game, what an atmosphere, the banter we had with the Cork Supporters both before and after the match, is what makes the munster championship so special. I used to hate trips down to the Old Pairc, but this is our third match down there this year, and I'm starting to really like it, Class Stadium. Munster is wide open, and even though Limerick are not playing this weekend I'm getting giddy at the thought of watching Clare and Waterford and Tipperary and Cork and what these games might bring. I think Waterford will bring chaos and craft and and put it up to Clare, but I think Clare will have just enough class from their Midfield, forwards and bench to get over the line. If Cork can produce the same type of performance against Tipperary as they did against Limerick they will win, however Saturday night will have to taken a lot out of them and Tipperary who will be rested after their weekend off could have the legs on them right at the end. It's like Christmas eve in Munster all over again LimerickandProud (Limerick) - Posts: 94 - 13/05/2024 12:16:27 2544470 Link 0 |
Two cracking games to look forward to at the weekend. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2095 - 13/05/2024 17:51:27 2544568 Link 0 |
It was a cruel way to lose in the end, I'm guessing hayes had no other choice but to deliberately foul Kingston resulting in the winning penalty, but to be fair Cork were atleast 10pts the better team! Two good games this Weekend....I've an itchy feeling Cork and Clare will win! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2475 - 13/05/2024 21:48:42 2544608 Link 0 |
