Everyone will be raving about cork but holy je..s that was as bad as I've seen from tipp in many years..not a finger laid on a cork player, waltz through the defence, pass ball round and not even a shoulder on any of them..I did say cork will be a danger to anyone cos they have pace and go for goals..I wonder would Davy and kiely make a decision to draw next week, cork would be out. The way they treated a great tipp man like Colm Bonner I've no sympathy for them, they got what they deserve.

Must be close to being a record margin either way? BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3126 - 19/05/2024 17:51:55 2545630 Link 1 |
1964 Munster hurling final. Tipperary 4-11. Cork 0-5. Or 6 goal win for Tipp… same amount as Cork's win today .

Correction… 1964 Munster final Tipperary 3-13. cork 1-5. 1965 Munster final Tipperary 4-11 Cork 0-5. I was at both finals, but Cork won all Ireland in 1966

Didn't lose any to Wexford anyway, in my lifetime.

Tipp went on to beat Kilkenny by 14 points in the All Ireland Final in 1964 so a serious Tipp team that.

I would like to see Tipp in Leinster, they would spice it up. My favourite rivalry is Tipp-Galway maroondiesel (Mayo) - Posts: 1218 - 19/05/2024 18:50:15 2545650 Link 0 |
1966. That was when Christy was manager? Almost out of the blue I think? Getting close again I think. Be interesting to see them in knockout stages. Still fancy Limerick but Cork would appear to be the coming team. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3126 - 19/05/2024 19:09:26 2545658 Link 0 |
Wexford beat Galway 2 weeks ago....

Or if Waterford beat Limerick then Limerick would be out (if Clare beat Tipp which looks likely) If Cork do make it they should be favourites for the whole thing Yadse (Limerick) - Posts: 57 - 19/05/2024 19:37:00 2545667 Link 0 |
No… Jim Barry was manager in 1966. Limerick knocked Tipp out in first round, paving the way for Cork to win.

If Limerick beat Waterford, I don't think what happens in the Clare match has any relevance in that Clare and Limerick would play in Munster final. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 19/05/2024 19:50:52 2545671 Link 0 |
Ah! I can remember a photo of Ring with Cork team after winning an All Ireland from one of Ray Smith's brilliant books, The Hurling Immortals, ("Borrowed" and never seen since...) Thought it was '66. Maybe 70s? He was over them though wasn't he, or have I completely lost it!
